One of my all-time favorites. Worked Padres games until retiring in 2016. A key figure in the rise of college basketball broadcasting in the 60s and 70s then NBC's top NFL voice in the 80s and 90s. Left for CBS when NBC lost their NFL contract. Said baseball was his favorite sport to announce. Was an Angels broadcaster in 70s and a class act according to everyone. RIP Dick.

Back in the day we had giants like Dick Enberg, Vern Lundquist and Pat Summerall calling games. Now we have the Ian Eagle's of the world.

That's too bad, Enberg was great. I actually heard his voice when I seen the post.

I like the first comment on there.

Roses are red
Violets are blue,
Byner's in the end zone
but the ball is on the 2.

He was amazing to the end. I’m relatively sure he called all three Browns playoff games - Drive, Fumble and then the one in 91 (?) when Michael Young caught the long pass and the Broncos blew out the Browns. Loved watching late night baseball with Enberg on the call.

I think he also called the Bubby Brister’s Mother game right before that third Browns game.

RIP
Loved hearing him on the calls. He didn't want to be bigger than the game just wanted to be a part of it.
