Mondays in Dove Valley have recently become devoted to dousing dumpster fires. Five consecutive losses — all by double digits — will do that. The same issues are addressed, often the same answers are used, the same shrug, same head-shake in disbelief, the same hope that maybe the next week will be better.

But with each Monday, that hope is increasingly replaced by frustration.

Joe Woods, the Broncos’ first-year defensive coordinator, feels it. Over the past two weeks, he watched the Eagles and the Patriots carve up his defense for a total of 92 points and 815 yards. And, like many weeks prior, Woods was left in the same position.

“The question comes up every week about what we’re going to do versus tight ends,” he said.

Derwin James could solve base defense matchup issues.

Woods seems to be putting the blame solely on the players for not executing. Tell me coach, why did Miller drop into coverage so much against the Patriots?
