That's a big quake. We haven't seen anything from Slick, but this is the opposite coast from where he lives. They definitely had some shaking but he wasn't close to the epicenter so hopefully all is well.

My wife had heard from one of her cousins in Mexico City this morning. There were power outages etc., but not major damage. So I'd guess Slick is fine on his side of the country.

I know someone who lives in Puebla, which is just south of Mexico City. He said the worst hit was south of them on the coast

We were in Merida, Yucatan last night. We didn't feel a thing.
We're home now and the other hurricane in the Gulf isn't a threat either. We're missing out on all the fun!

Epicenter was in Oaxaca. I think the death toll is 50 something.
Some from Oaxaca, Chiapas, Campeche, Veracruz and Estado de Mexico. Close to Mexico City but not the city itself.

Glad to hear all is good, Slick. You and your family were the first I thought of when it happened. Hopefully, mother nature continues to avoid you. :D

My wife's grandma had stuff falling off the walls at her house. She said it was a scary one.

Kids will do that to you.
Prayers to the folks in Mexico D.F. That looks really terrible.

There are schools collapsed with kids inside.
I always bitch about the fact that there are no building codes, inspections, things like that. This is why.

This is terrible.
I was reading a devastating earthquake hit this same area in 1985 on the same date.
