One of the greatest all-time Denver Broncos is returning to the organization. Former All-Pro safety Steve Atwater will return to the team as Fan Development Manager and Broncos Insider, the team announced.

Atwater, who donned the orange and blue from 1989 to 1998, ranks second all all time in postseason starts (14) for the Broncos behind only John Elway (21). His 155 starts for the Broncos ranks 10th all time. His 1,038 tackles rank third behind Dennis Smith and Karl Mecklenburg.

Seriously, it's hard for S's to make HOF, even harder for Broncos S's to make HOF.

Hell, even Jim Fassel was enough to take Elway to new greatness, I shudder to think what Walsh could've done. Shudder!

Yes. Remember how frustrated 7 was with Reeves?

I think that serves him nicely as our future owner. Don't let the talent be frustrated by the coaches..

If he played today, he'd get multiple 15 yard personal foul penalties per game.

Atwater did usually go for the knock-out shot and it sometimes
cost him. He either fired up the crowd or whiffed.

But, he didn't. You can say the same about many of the earlier NFL players. Ever watch highlights of Dick Butkis?

Stupid to bring that up in a thread honoring one of the Broncos' greats.

It works for gambling, you just pick the opposite of what you think. Say you have 11 and the dealer shows a 6, if you think he's gonna bust you hit instead of doubling down.

I had a guy tell me years ago that blackjack is the only Vegas game in which the house has only a slight advantage. As skilled player can come out ahead, even if they're not being assisted by a card counting team. On the other end of the spectrum, the roulette wheel is so stacked in the house's favor just throwing your money away.

The problem with counting cards is it's hard to find a shoe with only a couple decks in it. It's not as easy as it was 30 years ago.

Then there's the whole thing that its considered cheating for people with superior mental abilities to us them to tip the scales. I don't have the ability to card count, but those who do shouldn't be punished for using it. Seriously, those casinos get rich enough on the rank and file suckers that they can let few walk way with enough winnings to buy a new house.

I've done it once. It's impossible to prove. I didn't win much. I think I came out $5 ahead. I won 3 hands in a row and they had some middle aged dealer take over. He then proceeded to get 21 3 times in a row. I seriously could not tell if he was dealing from the top or bottom. That dude was smooth.

We hit a casino in Ohio that doesn't have tables and the guy who helped us the parking lot (we locked keys in with engine running) told us the casino clears $30 M in profits.

Btw, as for locking keys in car, when I say we I mean my wife.

I had won 3 hands in a row and was in the last seat. So, they knew I was watching what everybody else was putting down.

I was up by more than $5 when he came over.

It was a 5 deck shoe I think and a small minimum net table.

Most of the tables now have 20 deck shoes, I believe, which is nearly impossible to count
