CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Arena Football League franchise announced today that the team will be called the “Cleveland Gladiators”. The team also introduced their new logo and its colors of red, black and silver.

The Gladiators, which announced its move to Northeast Ohio from Las Vegas in October, will kick off the 2008 season on Monday, March 3 against the New York Dragons at Quicken Loans Arena.

“It is an exciting day for Cleveland football,” said Gladiator part-owner, CEO and President Bernie Kosar. “The name ’Gladiators’ epitomizes what I felt like taking the field every Sunday. We have been building this the right way with a top quality coaching staff and players that will be proud to have "Cleveland" on their uniforms.”

“‘Gladiator’ represents an individual who sacrifices everything in the name of hard work – which is perfect for the city of Cleveland,” said Gladiators owner Jim Ferraro. “It’s also a familiar metaphor used for football players and for the fans who watch them play.”

The Gladiators will compete in the Eastern Division with the Columbus Destroyers, Dallas Desperados, New York Dragons and Philadelphia Soul. Cleveland will play its home games at Quicken Loans Arena with season tickets starting at $80. Deposits for 2008 season tickets can be made by calling (216) 298-6979 or by logging onto www.clevelandafl.com.
