Kevin Mawae is a finalist and Tommy Nalen is not ever even mentioned. HOF is a ******* joke and always will be.

That's a pretty soft class of finalists. Tomlinson is the only slam dunk on there. TO and Jason Taylor are probably in. If Davis doesn't get in this year, it might not happen. This is his chance.

Let's remember the rules. We must always add one Steeler, so Faneca is a cinch. Then one Cowboy, so it could be T.O. but Jerry Jones is also on there as a "contributor" so I think Ol Jerrah gets his due. Normally, a Raider gets inducted but I guess they've run out after Stabler. IMO, it's LT's turn which probably cancels out any other RBs (sorry, TD). Normally, a QB gets in so that means Warner. Then there's room for one guy who plays defense which means Lynch or Taylor.

So, I'm calling it: Tomlinson, Faneca, Warner, Taylor, Bruce, and then Kenny Easley and Jerry Jones.

in 2010 Emmitt Smith and Floyd Little got in. It's really not that uncommon for people of the same position to get in in the same year.

Also, there are only 24 quarterbacks in the hall of fame, and they have had 53 HoF classes, so a QB doesn't even get in half the time. So I don't think you have to worry about Warner getting in. He's a fringe candidate and I would be shocked if he got in this early.

I'm all for Warner getting in, but not at the expense of Davis.

If Davis has to wait this long due to his longevity, so should Warner. 11 years is a relatively short career for a HoF QB, and only in 8 of those years did he start 10 games or more. He was only REALLY elite for those 3 years in St Louis, then after that had a 5 year stretch of complete mediocrity where he had a total of 27 TD and 30 INT over those 5 years, then he revived his career in AZ for those last 3 years, where he put up decent stats but not great.

I would be really, really shocked if he got in this year.

The "rules" are tongue in cheek (for those argumentative idiots who believe I only speak literally). Although I'm serious about a Steeler getting inducted every year. Maybe because Canton is close to Pittsburgh and electing a Steeler every year helps their revenue. Before Elway, there were zero Broncos. Zero for the first 40 years of the franchise. You'd think the PFHOF would be scurrying to make up for such oversights but apparently not.

Also, just for the sake of my own curiosity, who the hell decided that Bill Cowher was a great tv pitchman? He's out there selling cable tv and insurance and what have you. Where's Marv Levy or Marty Schottenheimer? Is Cowher really that popular?

Little got in as a Senior though. Scott Kacsmar (briefly) compared them in a 2013 FO articl (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2013/terrell-davis-peak-vs-longevity#comment-1044752)e arguing for Davis' induction, concluding:

If Davis does not enter Canton by 2020, I will personally steal Floyd Little’s bust and swap it with one of Davis made out of Play-Doh.

For every great year Warner had, he had an awful year. A lot of that was due to injuries, and I'm not dissing his career. He's a borderline guy and an argument can be made for him. We scoff at the number now, but at the time his 41 TDs in a single season was absurd.

But...Warner's on and off brilliance does not surpass TD's. I don't think the writers are going to put TO in the HoF for a long, long time. He pissed them off for far too long.

That has no impact on his eligibility as a player (I'm pretty sure at least). Otherwise, say a great player like Manning stepped into a front office role and did that until he was 70, he'd hypothetically never be in the hall of fame until then. I don't see that being the case.

He's still retired as a player. I mean, Jerry's on the list (albeit as a contributor) and he's still "in football" (far too much, in the opinion of most, even in Dallas.)

no. . . dick lebeau's been in the hall for like thirty years, coaching all along. . . ditka too, remember? they separate playing career from stuff like coaching, broadcasting, or front office work. . .
