What do we think about Jameis Winston so far? These are his three games this year. Like the rest of his team, he's really hard to figure out, especially in a small sample size:

Date Week Tm Opp Result GS Cmp Att Cmp% Yds TD Int Rate Y/A AY/A Rush Yds Y/A TD
2016-09-11 1 TAM @ ATL W 31-24 * 23 32 71.88 281 4 1 125.1 8.78 9.88 4 3 0.75 0
2016-09-18 2 TAM @ ARI L 7-40 * 27 52 51.92 243 1 4 39.2 4.67 1.60 3 9 3.00 0
2016-09-25 3 TAM LAR L 32-37 * 36 58 62.07 405 3 1 93.0 6.98 7.24 4 13 3.25 0

Looks like one great game, one very good game statistically in a shootout last week and one dreadful game. He's attempted more than 50 passes each of the last two weeks - I can't see that happening again, unless they're down big and have to come back (which I would take). Teams will probably try to run against us, given our early season struggles and throwing 50 times against the No Fly Zone is a bad idea.

Yeah I agree, they're going to have to run the ball a lot with Charles Sims to get anywhere on this defense. No Doug Martin for them which makes that task even harder. Their best bet, along with every other team is to get up ahead by 2, 3 scores and hope we can't formulate a come back with our offense. They're not built to get into a dog fight with our defense. Jameis throwing the ball 50+ times against Von and Shane Ray is bad news. This should be a good game, feel more confident going into this game than I did against the Bengals but that doesn't mean it won't be any less hard.

Also, I'd like to think the NFL has learned stacking the box isn't a great idea since Sanders and Thomas posterized the Bengals secondary twice. Which means CJ and Booker should have a better day of running the ball, we'll need them big time if it starts to rain.

At one of the pressers Kubiak responded to a question about it being hot in Cinci remarking that they'd played two hot games and had another one coming up. Which got me thinking and remembering that it seems like they've struggled in Florida in September. Looking into it confirmed my fears - since 1970 the Broncos have never won a road game in Florida in September:

2010 - 9/12 24-17 loss to Jacksonville
2005 - 9/11 34-10 loss to Miami
2004 - 9/19 7-6 loss to Jacksonville
1999 - 9/26 13-10 loss to Tampa Bay

However, there is a silver lining to this cloud of doom. Denver has played in Florida on the first weekend of October twice:

2005 - 10/2 20-7 win over Jacksonville
2004 - 10/3 16-13 win over Tampa Bay

So, even though it will be another warm game, history is on our side in this one.

Siemian's start impresses Tampa Bay

What are your impressions of Trevor Siemian?
Dirk Koetter: "Well, shoot, 3-0 — 3-0 as a starter. I would think arguably his best game as a quarterback, [four] touchdown passes in the NFL is hard to come by. I think Gary [Kubiak] has always done a great job with whoever's been at quarterback, and the Siemian thing is an awesome story. Very rarely does a guy go from third team on the depth chart to starting the next year. So it's quite a story and he's certainly living up to his part.

Does Trevor Siemian look like a guy who's only played three full games of his career?
Gerald McCoy: "No, he looks like a seasoned vet. [He's] very comfortable out there, makes really good decisions. He makes some mistakes to where you'll see a lack of experience but it's not any mistakes like, 'Oh, that was a dumb decision.' It's just something he probably hasn't been exposed to yet. But for the most part, he's been dominant and something we're really going to have to deal with. I mean, opening day, he shocked everybody. And he's just been rolling ever since. I'm happy for him. I've heard a little a bit about his story, so I'm happy for him, man, and we're going to have a tough one on our hands on Sunday."

Jameis kind of reminds me of a Philip Rivers or Brett Farve type who is going to make some mistakes - but is also going to keep challenging you no matter what and has enough talent to put the team on his back and hurt you. If he throws 4 INTs or 4 TDs I wouldn't be surprised. I'd put his passing attempt o/u at like 43 attempts.

The Broncos' history in Florida was one of the first things that I thought of looking at this match up too.
Broncos always struggle in Florida early in the season.
Has to be the weather.
Heat and humidity.
This Sunday, they are calling for a high of 90 degrees, 73% humidity and 60% chance of thunderstorms.
https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/Tampa+FL+USFL0481:1:US

Hot is one thing but high humidity is the culprit that can really take a toll on the non-acclimated.

That's another point to consider: Siemian had NO practice time with EITHER of our Pro Bowl WRs before a few MONTHS ago. Even then, he was splitting reps with Sanchez and Lynch until a few WEEKS ago. As good as it looks now, the three of them (and Green) will get far more in synch as the season progresses. Flip side, I wonder how much practice time he got with Latimer and Fowler last year; that could pay big dividends sooner than later.

Didn't really want to type this out, but for you Dave...anything.

Go to this website

http://506sports.com/nfl/

Look at the regular season. Each network CBS and Fox shows early games, 1:00 pm Eastern time and late games, 4:00 pm Eastern time.

Now notice the highlighted in green part. This alternates weeks between Fox and CBS. The network highlighted in green is allowed by contract to show both an early game and a late game. We are at week 4. Fox is highlighted so everyone in America gets both an early game and a late game. CBS is not highlighted so this week everyone in America gets only one game; either a early game or a late game but not both. Al is getting an early game in Boise, Idaho, the Raiders and Baltimore. I'm in Sheridan, Wyoming and I get the late game on CBS. The Broncos at Tampa.

They, CBS and Fox alternate,. Why both networks can't show two game each is beyond me and if someone Knows feel free to chime in.

Is that clearer.

I am not sure how this is allowed to happen in the free world

This reeks of socialism

Yes, and everyone gets MNF and Thursday night as well, but I don't think Dave was thinking about the Nationally televised games. . .which I guess London is one.
Everyone doesn't get MNF, only people with cable. Also, I surfed around for last Thursdays game and couldn't find it, which, combined with ads earlier in the week saying it was "only on NFL Network" suggests they weren't sharing it out to any broadcast networks (or maybe I just missed it.)

Used to be EVERY game went through the air every week, even if which three one got on Sunday depended on where one lived. Now at least one marquee matchup per week will be pay-per-view (sorry, but ALL cable qualifies as that,) while the NFL crosses its fingers that the one they make exclusive to their own network is also a highly anticipated matchup.

Ironically, THAT actually reeks of the kind of socialist Europes TV licensing deals, where, instead of the federal broadcast regulators charging private companies a fee to use airwaves we ALL own (and requiring they operate at least nominally in the public interest,) they charge We the People a fee simply to RECEIVE what's broadcast over our airwaves (whether we watch it or not.) Despite the fact that broadcasting on a given radio frequency prevents others in the area from using it, but RECEIVING that broadcast is a purely passive act that interferes with NOTHING.

Um, the NFL's built on socialism, dude. How else could there be a draft, revenue-sharing and a publicly owned team? Or welfare queen teams like the Jags. ;)
