CINCINNATI — Contrary to expectations, Trevor Siemian did not sip from a glass of milk to celebrate Denver's 29-17 triumph against the Bengals here Sunday.
Although, as Siemian might put it, milk would've been "neat." His worn-in Birkenstocks — the pair of sandals he wears with knee-high socks — stayed at his condo near Denver Tech Center, where he lives now because it's closer than Cherry Creek to the practice facility. To spice things up, the Broncos' unlikely (and undefeated) quarterback strode to the podium Sunday in a snazzy suit, replete with red power tie. That, after he borrowed a stick of deodorant from Paxton Lynch, because Siemian forgot his own. "Thanks, buddy," Siemian said.
The best story of this young season is the most unassuming NFL quarterback you've ever seen. Siemian won't be mistaken for a famous person unless it's that one guy who lived down the hall freshman year. Part of me wonders if he reveled in his first road win with a lovely cup of tea, some scented candles and another chapter in this great new book he's reading.
"He couldn't pull this off," kicker Brandon McManus said when I asked if Siemian owns a sweet checkered sport coat like the get-up McManus was rocking. "Trevor has no style."
