Except with a 7th rounder you get them locked up for four years. Not to mention, getting a seventh rounder or a non drafted free agent (I think you meant CFA or college free agent, not RFA) that turns into a good, or even serviceable, starting QB is a very rare event.

Trevor looks way better than Mariota and Winston. Both QBs taken before him in that draft class. There were others but those are the two big names in the first round.

Woah now, let's pump the brakes on that last take a bit. Those two guys are basically being asked to carry the franchise on their back. They don't have near the talent/structure around them that Trevor does. If you swapped Siemian for one of those two guys, I think we're still a playoff team and those other two are still bottom feeders.

But Manning had all of the talent around him last year. Sanchez had it and still played like shit. You can sit in a Lambo but not everyone knows how to drive it.

A 1st rounder vs a 7th rounder? Come on ... just admit he is doing better than those guys. Mariota and Winston also have a full year of experience on Trevor too and Trevor still spins it better. At least through 3 games he is.
