View Full Version : Mel Kiper Jr. predicts Broncos will break defensive streak in three-round mock

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos, if they don’t wheel and deal during the draft’s first two days, have four picks in the top 100.

And ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has the Broncos checking items off the list in his latest three-round mock draftInsider.

Kiper has the Broncos selecting Kansas State guard Cody Whitehair with the 31st pick of the draft. He then follows with Baylor defensive tackle Andrew Billings with the team’s second-round pick (63rd overall). Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright and Maryland safety Sean Davis are the 94th and 98th picks, respectively.

If Whitehair, who started at left tackle, right tackle and left guard for the Wildcats, was indeed the Broncos’ first-round selection, it would break the streak of five consecutive drafts when the team’s initial pick has been a defensive player.

I think That was Vince Tobin. Or Mark Tobin. Some kind of Tobin.

That's a better idea than Whitehair and Scooby.

Verified - it was Bill Tobin, not Bill Polian. Both Colt GMs named Bill. I stand corrected.

Bill Tobin is the kind of guy that should live in Indianapolis

if john's going to break the streak, this probably is the year. . . i don't see it for a guard, though. . . not with the D-line talent likely to be sitting there. . . if a guy like spriggs (or ifedi, if you have him as a tackle) is there, then yes. . . the other possibility i could see is if elway happens to like connor cook well enough, and he's still there. . . no way lynch makes it. . . i really think a lineman is the likeliest scenario if we stay at 31. . .

Yes. And I think that is how it should be.

If he went into MLB, they'd probably play the Scooby Doo theme song when he went up to bat.

The best OG in draft at 31 and under rated LB in 3rd.

I don't care for Mel Kiper all that much. He's essentially throwing something at the wall to see if it sticks. Well, at least he's got a 50% chance of being right!

That is sort of the definition of an NFL draft analyst.
