NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Two weeks before the NFL Draft, the Titans have pulled off a historic trade aimed to “bolster the roster” and better the team for years to come.

The Titans have agreed to trade the No.1 pick of the draft to the Los Angeles Rams for the 15th overall pick in this year’s draft, two second-round picks (43 and 45), and a third-rounder (76) in 2016. The Titans will also receive the Rams’ first-round pick in 2017, along with their third-round pick in next year’s draft.

In addition to Tennessee’s No.1 pick this year, the Rams will also receive a fourth-round pick (113) and sixth-round pick (177) in 2016.

As a result of the trade, the Titans now have six picks in the top 76 in this year’s draft – 15, 33, 43, 45, 64 and 76. The Titans already held picks 33 and 64.

The Rams gave up way too much to get an unproven commodity like Wentz or Goff. You should only do that for a once-a-generation QB like Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning. The Titties just made a hell of a deal, provided they know how to draft players.

Quite a haul for Tennessee.

I frankly don't see any of the QB's in this year's draft being worth that much, but I guess the Ram's do.

Bum Phillips liked to tell the story of how the Oilers wound up with Earl Campbell. They called Tampa Bay on a lark to find out what they'd want for the first overall pick. Well, the Bucs would swap first rounders and get a few other lower picks and the Oilers had a deal. Bum thought they'd just made a steal. Then the phone rang. It was the Bucs' GM. "Oh, and we want your backup tight end, Jimmie Giles". "That's all?," asked Bum. "Yes". Bum was trying not to laugh. "That sounds like a deal."

So, with that, the Oilers acquired the top pick and drafted Earl Campbell.

If whoever they draft winds up being a star no one will remember what they gave up to get him. Will have been worth it. It's a gamble for sure, but if the Rams have him scouted as a star, then I don't blame them for taking the risk.

Today's trade was big win for Cleveland; its leverage for No. 2 pick went way up. Anyone who wants next QB now needs to pay up to Cleveland.

If we're truly sold on Lynch or Cook, we should get Tennessee on the phone and offer #32 and next year's second for the #15 they just acquired from the Rams. We can offer one of our multitude of failed TEs and OLs to go with it.

Offering players who have been terrible in a trade.

Always a position to strongly negotiate from

Absolutely, and unfortunately who they pick might be one too.

Idiotic trade.

So you have your QB that we will presume to be a stud. Then what? That roster is bad right now, and being devoid of draft picks to help that QB develop isn't going to do him any favors.

I get that it's a marketing move, but sheesh.

Don't they have a pretty good defense?

I hope he can live with Wentz as his QB....I mean, he is no Tebow.

Well, he is pretty forgettable.

Tebow and Wentz in LA together. Sounds like a winning combination.

By the draft chart, Rams were probably a little light in what they gave up. Whether the QB they choose will be worth all those picks is another story. That's a lot of potentially good players (they could have drafted).

Good, then maybe we can still work out the unrealistic made-up trade with Clev and Buf.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 4h

Rams lean Jared Goff today, but one reason they made trade now was to get two weeks to debate top 2 QBs because "both are going to be good."

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 7h

Rams official on withholding trade until today: "Kobe deserved his night. There was no reason for this trade to be announced on his night.”

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 8h

Rams and Titans agreed to trade at 9:30 pm ET Wednesday and withheld announcement so nothing would detract from Kobe Bryant's last NBA game.

Literally every other report I have seen is saying they want Wentz, so I don't know that I would be too sure they are getting Goff just because Shefty is saying it.

I think the Rams will get spooked by the QBs, end up taking the LBer they could have had at 15, will make a deal to get another first rounder, the QBs will continue to fall and Rams trade with Titans to get most of their picks back and Fisher gets a little cross and calls the Titans GM a "pancake eating mother ******".

BroncoWave

I think there is roughly a zero percent chance of the Rams not using that pick on a QB. You don't trade that kind of ransom to pick a linebacker.

Seriously, Goff makes a lot more sense. Draw in Cal Bear fans. Get someone with major college experience.
