Jackson on Broncos: "They could have gotten me done, could have gotten Danny done, could have gotten Brock done for less than nothing."

Math. He must have been given a pass in math class.

On Malik, #Broncos offered him roughly $11 million per;yr Made strong offer to Brock.W Trevathan, decided to move on. Want to keep Marshall

@MaseDenver what do you think of malik jackson saying denver could of signed himself, os, and trevethon for next to nothing?

That's more than nothing Chaz. He said less than nothing would've gotten it done for all three! They would've paid Elway just to LET them play here!!!!

Man, wait until Cugel gets hold of this, Elway is in so much trouble!!!!!111!!!

This kind of pisses me off. Just take your money and be happy. We know that there was an offer out there for Jackson and Os before FA opened. They didn't take them, so obviously they wanted more than "nothing".

He also said this:

NFL Media ‏@NFLMedia 43m43 minutes ago

Malik Jackson to @JeffDarlington on why he chose Jax: "I feel like they truly showed me most respect & truly sought after me the hardest."

--------------------------

Just say what you mean - they offered me the most money. "Respect" is always a code word for money in this situations.

He's got to talk now, because once the season starts nobody will remember who he is. He got paid....so now he can sink into the Jax suck.

Jax is a few good players away from being legit contenders. The players in Jax need to know the team isn't a retirement home, they're there to compete.

It's about time the AFC South aside from the Colts - gets competitive. So tired of seeing the Colts pretty much get free admission to the playoffs because Jax, Houston and Titans are too busy licking windows.

I cheer for a team, not players. The team will always be there and given the opportunity, players usually show how ignorant they are.

I have to think Malik doesn't understand how the monetary system works. I hope someone is taking care of this mental giants money.

This is a better reflection. Inside LBs last deep in the draft because they are easily replaced. Trevathan was great while he was here, but so were the hotdog vendors and they won't get overpaid either.

Houston has had a winning record 4 of the last 5 years and 5 of the last 7. Wouldn't exactly say they have been pushovers.

Over the last decade Jacksonville has been at or above .500 4 times. They've really only been horrible for the last 5 years. Before that they were a pretty consistently decent franchise. I don't get why it's so out of the realm of possibility for some that they could get good again. Especially with what looks like a solid young QB.

03-10-2016, 06:23 PM
it DOES make it much easier for players to leave when they know that Denver is in complete limbo right now without a QB. It's not like when we just signed Manning, and players were willing to take a pay cut to come here via FA. Teams without a QB on the roster, and with no idea who the starter is goign to be..doesn't exactly spell out "contender"....despite what the defense did last year.

Mass Exodus....not quite. We lost 2 defensive players out of 11 starters and more backups. 2 offensive players who couldn't grasp the starter positions to themselves. And cut 3 players, 2 of which were on an offense who had the worst offensive showing in a really long time or ever and a specialist player.

Mass Exodus means they're leaving of their own accord because they weren't happy here. I call bullshit.

They were talking contract w/ Jackson & Wolfe last season. Wolfe signed. Jackson didn't. These things happen.

@MaseDenver I love Elway but from Malik's interview from earlier I think he dropped the ball by waiting to get their deals done

But Jackson would of signed for "nothing"..... lol

Cugel
03-10-2016, 08:19 PM
I can't wait for Cugel to weigh in on this.

Did you think I would support him? He's full of crap. He got 6 years, $90M. Why in hell would the Broncos match that? For the 6th best player on their defense? Good luck in Jacksonville where you will never get in the playoffs for the rest of your career. What were the Broncos supposed to do when he refused their $11M / year offer. Is he $2M a year better than Derek Wolfe, who signed for $9M? No. :coffee:

Danny Trevathan? "The Bears signed Trevathan to a four-year deal worth $24.5 million. He gets $12 million guaranteed and a $5 million signing bonus." And the Broncos were going to give him that when he's often injured? They didn't even want him back because they knew he would cost too much - and he did?

Brock? Once the bidding went to $18M + a year for a guy with 7 NFL starts? No thanks! Bye!

I criticized Elway for not getting Osweiler's contract done a lot earlier for a lot less. But, sure as hell not for failing to match the ludicrous amount he got from the Texans.

So, no. Malik does not get a pass for failing at math.

Cugel
03-10-2016, 08:23 PM
But Jackson would of signed for "nothing"..... lol

I'd like a small percentage of that "nothing." I'd settle for 1%. That would be $900,000 a year for the next 5 years. I could buy my own island and stock it with a couple of luscious drool nurses to wipe my chin.

I think I'd be OK with that. :2thumbs:

I feel Malik and maybe even Trevethan are taking shots because of dumb ass fake fans leaving comments on their IG/Twitter post. I read stuff on there that made me sick. One dude wrote "sell out" blah blah "I hope you tear your acl". Then other post like, "he wasn't that good. Ware could have recovered that fumble in the end zone. I mean he made a business decision. You can dislike the move but still respect what he did here. Real pist about Brock leaving but at the end of the day he helped secure that 1st seed to help us during our Playoff push

I have a feeling Malik is talking about if they got contract offers from Denver before the season started. Had the Broncos re-signed them last offseason they definitely would've paid less. At the time though, they had more pressing concerns and other deals to get done. Danny T was the only guy with a proven track record of performance but had injury issues. Brock was a complete unknown on how he'd play and Malik had shown flashes but it wasn't until this year, under wade Phillips, that he really blossomed into a really good player.

The funny thing is, this upcoming draft is really deep with 4-3 DT/3-4 DE prospects. There are guys there that could fill Malik's shoes. I think it will be interesting to see how Malik and Brock do on their new teams - whether they'll be difference makers or just guys underperforming with a high price tag.

I'm sure Trevathan, if he can stay healthy, will be a good 4-3 WLB for the Bears like he was for us. The other two... Well, we'll see.

Including Wolfe the Broncos 2012 draft class signed for $250 MM in free agency this year, with at least $90 MM guaranteed, Malik Jackson is an idiot.

He wasn't even a full time player on 14'. Of.course he would have cost less. This leads me to believe he didn't major in business.

Oh well, critical thinking can be evasive at times.
