Tom Brady and Patriots reached agreement on 2-year contract extension, tying him to NE through 2019, league sources told @diannaESPN and me.

Tom Brady turns 39 in August, so his new, agreed-to, 2-year extension gives him chance to play in New England until he's 42 years old.

Brady extension likely designed to clear out cap space as Pats try to lock up their young defensive core over next year.

The max cap savings for Brady should be around $6 million, which would assume nothing new this year. Last time he got an extra mil #Patriots

If/when Brady plays entirety of new deal, he’d become 4th player in NFL to play 20 or more seasons with same team (Slater, Green, Hanson).

Yeah, no: Presuming Brady plays next year, he either drops off the QB cliff then or the following year. Why not spread the pain even further by extending him till he's 50? He's as likely to be playing then as at 42. Favre was a cannon-armed ironman: He only lasted till 41, and SUCKED that whole final year. Brady's NEVER had that kind of arm any more than Manning, so the idea he can last even LONGER is laughable. But knock yourself out, NE*. :)
