View Full Version : If Brock doesn't work out, is Paxton Lynch a possible draft pick?

I don't watch college football, so I'm not college scout by any means. I did come across the article below that said that the Broncos reached out to Paxton Lynch's high school coach.

"The scouts that call me want to know about his character and what type of kid he was," Johnson said. "They're doing their due diligence."

I know it's easy capture all the good stuff and thread them all together to make the highlight reels, but his footwork and throwing mechanics are pretty good, imo. He's got both zip and touch and can throw deep. Video shows him hitting most of his WRs in stride. But, the video doesn't show consistency. Can anyone offer any input.

Maybe. Lynch or Cook would be a possible draft choice but im really not sure Denver is looking to throw a rookie in following a SB championship when most of the pieces will still be in place to repeat. Thats a lot of pressure to put on a very green QB coming out of the box.

Totally get that. I think no matter who our QB ends up being, they have to be a play-action type that can keep their cool. If our OL can get healthy, I think a young QB may do fine. The difference between following in Elway's footsteps vs Peyton's footsteps is, Elway won the SB MVP in his final game while Peyton had the worst season an SB winning QB ever had. Pressure none the less though.

Lynch is similar to Brock and Flacco, he's likely to be gone mid first, but Cook who I believe is perfect for the scheme is possible.

Christian Hackenberg.

I loved him in his sophomore and freshman season, last year I thought he really struggled, rarely threw over 200. I didn't see enough to know if that was his offense, his line our his play, but I really hoped for more from him.

Id rather Goff than any of them. He's more pro style ready than any of them and well polished as a pocket passer.

Goff will be long gone.

Prescott seems the most feasible

Not with Elway as gm. To many similarities to Tebow

He struggled as a Soph too, it's not his receivers, his OL, his offense or himself that's to blame, it's all of the above.

But, dude has all the talent and he's legit smart, has experience in a (kinda) pro style offense and spread, under C and shotgun. Ton of playaction and moving pockets. He developed bad habits but they all have habits to break.
