I think the Lombardi we get should be gold.

50th Superbowl, commemorating YEARS of this wonderful game. Every 50 years there should be a gold Lombardi.

I agree.

I concur.

That would be cool. I think the team can get one made if they really wanted

Don't hold your breath: Golden Anniversary or not, the League Office isn't going to single out ONE team for a unique trophy format all their own to lord over the other 31+ teams eternally. The Pack spent 30 futile years crowing about the first one, and ALL of them being named after their coach; not going down Lombardi Ave. again.

Screw gold, a diamond lombardi trophy would be sick.
Just have to win SB LXXV then, won't we?

I waited 3 hours to take a photo with the current one!!! They better give me a retake if we change it.

But that would have been sick for the 50th!

I hope you guys understand how special winning it all on the 50th anniversary really was. The only thing that might top that is the 100th....but I might be long gone by then. Lol

Is the Lombardi made platinum?

Ugh I just went back and checked. It's made of Sterling Silver. Since that's the case I agree with War they should make it Gold.

I read on Twitter that the big gold 5 and 0 that you have seen with the trophy also goes to the Broncos, so in a way they get that unique gold trophy as well. That will look sweet in the display case.

If thats part of it, a gold 5, the Lombardi, a gold 0, then yes.....that would satisfy me. heh heh

And Im going to carry it straight into the Chefs boards, da ratturds and da chuggers.

Facebook pages galore.

This was on wikipedia under superbowl 50

Trophy

In addition to the Vince Lombardi Trophy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Lombardi_Trophy) that all Super Bowl champions receive, the Broncos also received a large, 18-karat gold-plated "50". Each digit weighs 33 lb (15 kg) for a total of 66 lb (30 kg). Like the Lombardi Trophy, the "50" was designed by Tiffany & Co. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiffany_%26_Co.)[48] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_50#cite_note-cbs-goldnfl2015-48)

Also, tradition starting with 1st SB MVP thru last year's is that the MVP would get a car, but Von did not

Von Miller fine with not getting car for Super Bowl MVP

Miller might have re-gifted his car, too. Except there was no car. The NFL did not have a Super Bowl car sponsor this year. Miller instead received a silver ball made by Tiffany.

Yeah, that was lame. Not that Von exactly needs it, but... wow, way to make a 50th anniversary tradition special, NFL.

What exactly is the difference? I'm sure they will still display the digits with the trophy and it's still something cool that no other team has ever gotten.

That trophy with the numerals is going to look freaking awesome whenever they display it. For people who live in Denver, do they keep the other two Lombardi trophies in an area where the public can view them typically? I remember when I was a kid I had my picture made with the SB32 trophy at an event, but I'm not really sure if that's an all the time thing.

Yeah, maybe; it'll probably rarely leave the display case, so the numbers will always be right there with it. But when Mrs. B, Elway, Kubiak and the rest were hoisting up on global TV at the SB it looked just like the other 49 SB trophies: There was nothing even suggesting ALL previous SB Champs were somehow lesser.

ANY SB grants eternal bragging rights, but that means EACH SB does. We'll always have the Golden Game, and its unique numeric TITLE is distinction enough (unless the NFL doesn't revert to the Roman format.) The Silver SB was special, too, but its DATE wasn't why (poor Scott Norwood; poor Buffalo....)

Might it just be reflecting the gold from the numerals?
Thought of that, but the numerals are behind it, and it's gold on the front. Unless the gold was reflecting off a lens, or a case it was in or something.

Yeah, this will be one people really remember if for no other reason than the number. If you ask who won Super Bowl XXVII, your average fan will not know the answer. But ask who won Super Bowl 50, people will remember.
