Yep. losing him and Bruton is really rough. Both in terms of special teams (really hurts losing the returner) and safety depth.

Webster stepped up big time yesterday.

I like Webster a lot, not just as a STer, but as a CB. That said, I like Chris Harris a LOT more, and going from an elite CB to a very good one is still a big step down; doing it in a CCG against Brady would be the worst possible time. And it's a bit inconsistent to say playing (especially that brutal hit to the same shoulder) didn't aggravate the injury, then turn around and talk about confidence in Webster playing well if Harris can't. There's a reason we took Harris out of our base after that hit.

It's the playoffs, so that's how it goes; there's a lot of talk about Edelman getting X-rayed after the KC game and Collins and Hightower leaving the lineup in the second half; while I wish them no harm, it won't break my heart if they can't play. It just sucks that my favorite Bronco (and our best pure coverage guy, who's also an elite tackler vs. pass or run) is banged up NOW, just as it sucks to lose Bruton and Bolden (both of whom I also like as DBs as well as STers.)

Hopes and prayers all goes well and they all get SB Rings to soothe their pains.

If a player goes to IR, I wonder if Kubes would consider signing Wes Welker. He has great hands, catches punts and will give Belicheat something else to worry about.

He plays for the Rams.

I'm guessing someone from the practice squad would get picked up, or something similar.

Better to lose depth then starters even if ST stars IMO. Ward and Stewart would have hurt us far more if injured. Good thing we signed Bush and Keo.

Okay, then how about Bernard Pollard? What's he doing these days?

We called up Taurean Nixon, of Tulane, from the practice squad.

Don't know anything about him, but I guess he's pretty fast:

Taurean Nixon had no idea how fast he was.

Sure, the former Tulane cornerback and Southern Lab alum knew speed was his strength, and he outran teammates for years. But it wasn’t until stopwatches clicked in front of NFL scouts that it became a quantifiable entity.

“Yeah, it turned out I was really fast,” Nixon said. “I hadn’t run a timed 40(-yard dash) since the 11th grade. So when they started telling my time, even I was pretty amazed by it.”

Nixon was clocked at anywhere between 4.25 and 4.37 seconds. The 4.25 would’ve been the fastest at this year’s NFL combine — which Nixon wasn’t invited to — and the 4.37 makes him the second-fastest cornerback available in this year’s draft.

Unfortunately, I don't know his 3-cone drill time.
