He DROPPED his head just before impact, so first contact was with the front of the helmet, between the facemask and crown. Though I hear what you're saying; near as I can tell it's not a spear unless the initial impact's by the exact microscopic center of the top of the helmet: A millimeter off in any direction and planting a helmet in someone's legal, which I guess explains why spearing's almost NEVER called despite guys planting their helmets in people several times/game. Player safety technicality.

Mathis is starting to scare me. I keep expecting playing again will get him back into All Pro form after missing all of camp to rehab and resumes, but it keeps not happening.
