The New York Giants are reaching back into their recent NFL past with their weekly Tuesday workouts, hosting former Giant receiver Hakeem Nicks and former Patriots and Broncos wideout Wes Welker.

Former Washington tight end Chris Cooley will also be among the players trying to impress the Giants.

A source told ESPN's Josina Anderson that the Giants were working out Nicks and Welker, two veteran wide receivers who want to keep playing but have struggled to find work this offseason. Welker's concussion history has caused teams to shy away from him, and Nicks spent a promising summer in training camp with the Titans before being cut in their final roster reduction.

Wow. I remember what a beast Nicks was coming out of North Carolina. Amazing what a few major injuries can do to a career.

We saw pretty clearly last year that he can't still play.

how much you want to bet his last year here, will have more receptions then caldwell/latimer combined this year?

Which is totally irrelevant.

Ok? So he sucks slightly less than those two. Still don't want him back

How is his opinion that we have 2 receivers on our roster right now (Caldwell & Latimer) that will produce less than Welker did the last time he played for us irrelevant? If this proves to be true, then there's the possibility that Welker, as deteriorated as he is today, may be a better 1 year option. Just because you & I disagree with Shane's assessment doesn't make it irrelevant.

especially with a 53 man roster. Id trade 2 spots for one, and bring in some more talent on the o line. I really like the Michigan state kid Fowler as a #4 WR.

Just because you & I disagree with Shane's assessment doesn't make it irrelevant. Because Caldwell and Latimer barely see the field in any given game and when Welker was here last season he was the number three wideout on the team behind DT and Sanders...when he wasn't noodle brained of course. It's a heinous "bet" to make. It's comparing apples to oranges. Even IF Welker was still on the roster, he wouldn't be seeing the field half as much as he was, or as much as Norwood and Fowler will be.

which further makes the point. Since welker was hurt that year for what 5 games? And still maybe produces more catches and tds then caldwell and latimer this year. Thats a shame.

Considering Welker is a hit away from a padded room and straight jacket, he's not worth the risk for any team. He's more of a risk to himself than anything else.

And how much does Mr. Welker wish to be paid for his services? I think that's a major question here. Although, as the season progresses, his price decreases. It certainly would be curious if the Broncos had a hush-hush agreement with Welker to come back for the last six weeks and be fresh for the playoffs. Belicheat would do something like that (remember LaGarette "Hand Me a" Blount last year?). Not sure Johnny Boy would.

I think they're pretty well off with Beckham, Cruz, and Randle. That's a solid trio with Donnell at TE and Vereen catching passes out of the backfield. Oddly enough I feel like the Giants have greater depth than us at the offensive skill positions. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they win the NFC East.
