Sports Authority Field at Mile High will introduce 93 new walkthrough metal detectors to at the Denver Broncos' preseason home opener against San Francisco next week, according to a release.

The new metal detectors mean Sports Authority officials will no longer use pat downs and hand wands to screen fans, the release said. The change is being made at the behest of fans who wanted an improved screening process for entering the stadium. The detectors are similar to those used by TSA officials in airports, but fans will not be required to remove their shoes, belts, wallets, jewelry, watches and coins. Those who are unable to enter metal detectors for any reason will be subjected to a different screening process.

Scott Bilek the assistant general manager of Sports Authority Field at Mile High, praised the new screening process, saying it will enable fans to enter the stadium more quickly.

"The new metal detector system will allow fans to enter Sports Authority Field at Mile High faster and more efficiently while being much less intrusive than security methods used in the past," Bliek said in a release.
