View Full Version : Tom Brady Emails Disses Peyton, Says "Game On"

I thought the level of delusion in this was hilarious:

Kiz: After scanning the private e-mails of Brady for juicy gossip, the best inquiring minds could find was this snappy comment from the QB with Super Bowl rings on his fingers and a slightly under-inflated football in his hand: "I've got another 7 or 8 years," Brady wrote to a longtime friend. "He (Manning) has got 2. That's the final chapter. Game on." (http://www.denverpost.com/kickinit/ci_28609026/no-need-inflate-tom-bradys-e-mails-feud)Really? We here at Kickin' It Headquarters receive five or six tougher jabs from the tweeps before brunch on any given Sunday.

I thought this made no sense so I looked at Brady's age: Born: August 3, 1977 (age 38). Peyton meanwhile is 1 year older: March 24, 1976 (age 39).

Is Brady completely delusional? He thinks he's going to play till he's 46??? I mean, he does have 5 SB rings to Peyton's 1 which is a reason to brag. But, to say that Peyton has 2 more years (he would be 40 after next season) but Brady can just play until he's 46?

Reality is that Brady has 1 or 2 more years left than Peyton (if Peyton plays out his contract), not 8. He's not going to be playing in this league when he's 42, let alone 46!

Remember that Peyton had a career year and went to the SB in 2013, when he was 38, just as Brady is now. So, the fact that Brady thinks he doing great doesn't mean a whole lot. Peyton was doing equally well at 38. It was the last 1/2 of last season when Peyton got injured and suddenly looked old. The fact that hasn't happened to Brady yet doesn't mean it won't.

So, Brady has probably got 3 or at most 4 more years, while Peyton has maybe 2 (or conceivably 3 if he can stay healthy and stay productive). Peyton insisted last year that he intended to play out his contract ("of course I am"), until he got hurt and his performance tanked the last month of the season and in the playoff loss. That led him to re-examine whether he wanted to come back.

But, if he performs well and stays healthy this year - which in turn depends on having a successful running game and good OL blocking for Peyton, then he'll probably want to complete his contract in 2016. Whether he would return for another year after that would depend obviously on his performance this season and next, and whether the Broncos would want him back for 2017.

Peyton has looked good in training camp, but that's because he's fully healthy. The question is whether he can be healthy in January.

They are both very likely to wind up playing to about the same age: 40 or 41.

The ones that were released publicly, as a result of the Deflate-Gate investigation, yeah.

All things considered and as much respect as I've lost for Brady this is about as benign as you can hope for if we're getting an unfiltered view into his personal emails.

He's crazy to think he's going to play that long but - "Game On?". Meh.

If this is a private Peyton to Eli email about Brady I can't imagine it would be significantly "worse".

Oh hello week old story that is so irrelevant I'm surprised anyone posted it at all.

Well Cugel has been gone about a week maybe a little longer.

It was an article in the Post. I looked to see if someone had a thread on this already, in which case I would have simply added a comment. Since there was no thread I posted this. If anyone doesn't like it or thinks it's boring, they simply don't have to read or comment on it.

Nobody requires you to like something or think it's interesting.

Personally, I'm amazed that Brady thinks Peyton is pretty much washed up and he's got 8 more years and is going to play till he's 46. I don't think even Daryle Lamonica played that long.

Brady doesn't have 5 rings.

Well Brady, had Manning cheated every year, he'd probably have just as many rings. Hence why there will always be an * in the fans' minds when it comes to you and your rings. Hmmmm, he was part of the team that taped their opponents for an advantage, he was part of the team that deflated balls for an advantage, just what else did he and his team do to win those rings? I think Kraft took stole a line from Davis...Just win, baby!

Meanwhile, Manning has no question marks, he'll always be known as one of the smartest, most cerebral players to ever play the game. Maybe he doesn't have the rings on his hands, but he also won't have an * behind his name, either.

Douche.

This whole episode is just a cleverly designed scheme to lock up a Viagra contract once Brady leaves the game...

All is forgiven as far as Manning says.

http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/13424725/peyton-manning-says-tom-brady-texted-apology-email-flap

Manning addressed the emails for the first time on Wednesday, after Broncos practice.

"Everybody has been speculating on that for a long time, so I guess he's joining the list of trying to predict,'' Manning said. "Hey, Tom sent me an apology text that was unnecessary. The fact his emails got revealed, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.''

I gotta laugh when Brady thinks he's gonna play for another 10 years. Obviously he's exaggerating a bit - all it takes is one good hit to make you question how many can you take at the age of 38. Doesn't matter how rigorous and intense your off-season work out is, I don't think you're ever fully prepared to take a bone crushing hit from a 240+ pound guy.

Brady need not worry as his emails are safely and privately stored on Hillary Clinton's home server where nobody will ever see them.

Brady just won a Super Bowl and a year ago Manning was MVP of the league. Why would Brady thing Manning is closer to retirement than him? Manning had an injury that hurt him last season. Any player is just an injury away from being useless, including Brady.

I think Brady thinks that because it's probably true, Mouth, Brady may not play 8 more years but I think it's safe to say Manning is closer to the end.

Btw, Brady released his own emails.
