KUSA- Wes Welker wants NFL teams to know he's fine. He has not suffered any ill effects from the concussions he received while playing for the Broncos the previous two years.
More significantly, Welker was cleared to continue his NFL career by one of the country's leading concussion experts, Dr. Stanley Herring of Seattle. Welker visited Herring about a month after playing his final game for the Broncos on Jan. 11, a 24-13 playoff loss to Indianapolis in which the slot receiver had one, 20-yard reception and handled punt returns.
Herring is not only a professor at the University of Washington and team physician for the Seattle Seahawks, he is a member of the NFL's Head, Neck and Spine Committee that two years ago established new, more stringent concussion protocol procedures.
