Manning was more sensitive to the current contract holdout of star receiver Demaryius Thomas, who is not participating in the Broncos' off-season program because he has a one-year, $12.82 million franchise tag instead of a multiyear contract.
Perhaps, Manning has a fresh perspective on the business side of football after he took the first pay cut in his esteemed NFL career last month. Manning accepted a 21 percent salary reduction to $15 million. Or perhaps Manning has a special bond with Thomas, who has caught 297 of his passes the past three years.
