Why can't professional athletes keep out of trouble?

They know that as professional athletes they are under greater scrutiny and more likely to be accused of and/or sued for alleged misdeeds by the public, let alone arrested and/or criminally charged for alleged misdeeds by law enforcement. Despite knowing this, a number of professional athletes keep screwing up.:tsk:

Broncos Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib and his brother reportedly are being investigated for aggravated assault by police in Dallas after an incident Wednesday morning at a nightclub.

The Broncos are aware of the report by Dallas TV station WFAA.

"We have been in touch with Aqib regarding these reports and will continue to monitor this situation," said Broncos vice president of public relations Patrick Smyth.

According to WFAA, Talib and his brother were interviewed at the scene of a downtown nightclub and allowed to leave. The cars they were driving, WFFA said, were towed.

AND

A Dallas police spokeswoman said officials were working to verify the report and they have received several calls about it.

Wasnt it last year that the dallas police said they arrested Aqib and it turned out to be his brother? This time they got both of them? Or maybe none?

from same DP article:

Last June, police in Dallas falsely reported Aqib Talib had been arrested after being caught throwing bottles and causing a disturbance at a Dallas nightclub where an NFL camp after-party was being held.

The man arrested was not the NFL star, but rather his brother, Yaqub Talib, police later said. The Dallas Police issued a correction to that report, publicly apologizing to Aqib Talib.

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_27872243/broncos-aqib-talib-dallas-police

Since it was a Dallas tv station who reported the latest incident this morning, there is a possibility that it was not Aqib, but brothers.

I don't know. I saw that movie though (a million ways to die in the west). Neil Patrick is pretty funny in it. I missed the ending (fell asleep). Dallas PD statement in response to inquiries about reports Aqib Talib is under investigation for assault:

On March 8, 2015, at approximately 2:09 a.m., officers responded to a call regarding an active shooter on foot in the 700 block of North Pearl Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who was working at the location. According to the initial report, the complainant stated there was a disturbance inside the location between three Black males. The complainant stated he attempted to quell the disturbance by assisting security in escorting the individuals out of the bar, at which time one of the individuals attempted to punch the complainant. The complainant stated he attempted to defend himself by kicking one of the possible assailants. The complainant stated as they reached the front of the location someone produced a gun and pointed it at him. The complainant closed the door and took cover inside the bar. Witnesses outside the location observed a Black male outside, fire a round into the air, which caused an immediate panic. All of the involved individuals left the location. This is an ongoing investigation at this time. Detectives are actively attempting to identify and interview all parties involved. This offense is documented on case number 077562-2015.

No names identified in the report. Do they just have it in for him in Dallas? If this turns out to be another "mistake" ... I don't know, it all seems very weird.

A report on Wednesday indicated that Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was under investigation in relation to an assault allegation and the Dallas Police have released a statement about the case.

Talib and his brother were both reportedly questioned and had vehicles taken into custody, but the statement, via Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, does not name Talib, his brother or anyone else as people involved with the incident.

AND

The statement closes by saying the investigation is ongoing and that detectives are “actively attempting to identify and interview all parties involved.”

The police force last June had incorrectly claimed Talib, an All-American honors winner, was arrested for public intoxication, when they mistook him for his brother, who does not play in the NFL.

At the time, officers blasted the announcement on Twitter before having to retract it.

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is being investigated for a possible aggravated assault at a nightclub, WFAA in Dallas reported citing Dallas Police Department sources, but the club's general manager said Talib and his brother did nothing wrong.

from same yahoo article:

Hanney Kamal, LUXX Nightclub's general manager,, told the Morning News that there was a verbal altercation, and everyone was asked to leave the club, which they did. He said no gun was fired.

“One-hundred percent that did not happen,” Kamal told the Morning News. “I was there. Somebody might have called the police because there was a yelling argument. It’s athletes — someone sees them yelling and dials 911. But there was nothing to that nature. Nothing happened. It’s just a typical nightclub. You’re always going to get people yelling.”

Klee is an idiot, they can't all be Boy Scouts. "He wouldn't answer my question so I hope they cut him", that's not how the NFL works.

Broncos need to find out the extent of his involvement and go from there, but cutting him at this point is just plain stupid.

The Dallas Police Department said it has suspended an investigation into an alleged aggravated assault incident that involved Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib and his older brother, Yaqub, earlier this month.

Talib was never arrested or charged in connection to the incident, which happened in the early-morning hours on April 8 outside a nightclub in downtown Dallas. The Broncos had acknowledged that they had spoken to Talib about the incident.

This is the second time it has come out about Aqib being involved in something in Dallas. The first time, it was reported that Aqib did something, and it turned out to be his brother. Now this time. I wonder if Aqib has any recourse against someone, as both times it appears it's guilty until proven innocent.

What didn't seem like much to begin with has turned out to be just that. Aqib Talib is officially no longer under investigation as the investigation has been suspended for lack of evidence.

I see. Even still, it might just be best that he and his brother try to steer clear of that Dallas night scene as much as possible. Even thought it appears as if they did nothing wrong in either case, it seems to just be turning into a yearly offseason headache for them now.
