Demaryius Thomas is readying to join some elite receiving company. With 145 more yards, he'll be only the third receiver in NFL history to enjoy a season with 1,450 yards and 10 touchdowns. The other two names: Jerry Rice and Marvin Harrison.

That means Thomas is due elite money. The free-agent-to-be joined Dan Hellie on NFL Network's NFL Total Access for an interview that will be aired on the Friday Night Spotlight. Hellie asked Thomas if he would be willing to take a hometown discount to stay in Denver.

"Of course, why not?" Thomas asked. "Peyton is one of the best in the game, and I've been blessed to have him as my quarterback. I learned so much of him. Denver, of course I gotta take my hats off to them, because they took a chance of drafting me in the first round."

Is he from Georgia or somewhere? I thought that's what he meant when I read the title. Whew

He was offered 13 million a year and turned it down. The talk about hometown discount is just talk at this point.

Why do you think it is just talk?

He probably just wanted even less.

Must've been. They said, " okay DT we're prepared to pay you 13 mil per year". He replied, "no way" because it was too much. The Broncos thought he was holding out for more...

Mmmm, because 13 million a year would have made him the 3rd highest paid WR in the NFL, and said no to it.

Him or his agent? As the article said - "Thomas' agent might feel differently and has plenty of leverage."

Will be interesting to watch the interview tomorrow night on NFL Total Access

He'll get paid to stay in Orange and blue for years to come (guessing 6) but no way is it gonna be at a "discount".

It's all a matter of perspective....if he turns down 23 per year to go to Oakland, but stays in Denver for 22 per year, it's still a hometown discount.

Pay the man what he deserves. Don't try and get cheap with your best players.

Maybe 13.5 mill a year, 67.5 mill over 5 years, 40 mill guaranteed?

I love this guy!

Yes....however, 13 is probably not realistic. He's probably going to get close to Calvin money. He might not be quite as dominant as Calvin, but he's also 5 years younger. As of right now, he has the most upside of any receiver in the NFL.

Ravage!!!

Well.. that depends on just h ow MUCH of a discount. It ALWAYS comes down to guaranteed money. Raise the guaranteed, raise the number of years on the contract to spread it out. But he's not going to simply give up a TON of money to stick when Peyton is leaving in a year.

Him and Dez Bryant are going to be watching each other closely. The first one to sign will create the benchmark for the other.

Him or his agent?

It doesn't matter.

He's not taking any large discounts from anyone. Nor should he. The Broncos just need to pay him.

How would your agent feel about his player publicly saying he'd take a discourse to stay with the team? Does it really matter? Is the negative overshadowed by the positive publicity?

i think if it is the choice between a ton of money in denver - or just over a ton elsewhere, he stays put.

if he is offered a ton in Denver or 5 ton in Jacksonville, i think he still stays put.

The problem comes if another contender with a younger qb comes knocking and offering much more - how does he turn down Green Bay, or maybe even Atlanta.

Basically we need to pay him!

Be you do not know the details. Guarantees?

Was it a 4 year with average of 13 mill per year but only first year guaranteed?

Feo. What I read before it was not because of the annual amount it was turned down.
