Shaun Phillips was the leading pass rusher on a Broncos team that made the Super Bowl last season. Now he's looking for a job.

AND

It wouldn't be a surprise to see a contender give Phillips a shot as a situational pass-rusher off the bench, possibly even the Broncos.

I don't know what he'd cost, but he stepped up for us big time when Miller went down. Wouldn't hurt my feelings to have him back, that's for sure.

He could be insurance for Demarcus Ware and, if Fox or Del Rio can figure out a way to put Ware, Phillips and Von on the same front seven in obvious passing downs, that could be really nasty.

I'd sign him just so the Pats don't.

It would be great, but who do you get rid of?

And cut who from DL? Wolfe, smith, hackson?

Unrein. Or they could just IR Ball. The likely hood of him returning to anywhere near form now, or even by the playoffs, is slim.

Sign him now! He can play linebacker! Put him to MLB or WLB.

Can't cut Unrein, you may not think they need him now, but...

Broncos could be a Super Bowl team if they sign Shaun Phillips and Richie Incognito.

And on top of that, cut Caldwell, move Bolden to full time KR, and put Ball on IR like someone else said.

Btw, if the Cheatriots sign two players that conveniently got themselves fired in as many weeks the NFL better damn well look into tampering.

lol! The fly in this ointment is any other team could have picked Blount up off of waivers before the Pats even had a shot at him, including the Broncos. The idiocy is mind numbing.

I don't necessarily disagree, but anything that puts the pats in a negative light is enjoyable

Ok so by RULE almost every team had a shot at Blount for just over $300,000k for the rest of the season BEFORE NE, but you don't "necessarily disagree" with that FACT??!! LMAO!

Phillips needs to pass through too, so if Denver pass him up and he clears waivers, he can negotiate with ANY team. You can tell your friend Jaded that too

I UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS, nimrod, I just admitted I was adding fuel to the fire.

Nimrod? lol! Okay, now explain it to jaded before we have to have the NFL look into "tampering"

This.

First time I've ever high-fived a four letter word.

On another note, I'm a little suprised they cut Phillips. I saw him make a big play for them just this last week. I don't think we have a spot for him because we're pretty deep at his position, but unfortunately the Patriots sure need him.

I loved how he played for us last year, but we really don't need another DE; Wolfe and Jackson are a solid rotation on their side, Ware and Smith on theirs (though Smith to a lesser extent than Jackson.) IF he's still got enough coverage speed though, Phillips may be worth a look at MLB with Irving gone for the year; I really like Steven Johnson, but not having just a single decent MLB, and our run D HAS declined since Irvings injury. In many ways, a 3-4 OLB's closer to 4-3 MLB than to 4-3 DE; they may rush QBs more than most Mikes, but Mikes DO have pass rushing duties, far more often than DEs have coverage duties.

The point on waivers is also valid though: Everyone but NE and Arizona gets a shot at him before us, and I doubt 29 teams decline (Dallas could particularly use him, but they're only 4 slots ahead of us.)

It didn't take long for Shaun Phillips to settle somewhere.

The Colts on Wednesday claimed the veteran linebacker just a day removed from the Titans waiving him.
