per Jason LaCanfora, CBS Sports.com:

Star receivers Dez Bryant (http://www.broncosforums.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1272524/dez-bryant) and Demaryius Thomas (http://www.broncosforums.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1114965/demaryius-thomas) were unable to make much progress on what would be massive new contract extensions, and league sources said both seem destined for the franchise tag at this point. Getting new deals done by February would be difficult, both of their teams -- Dallas and Denver -- have several other significant free agents that must be re-signed as well (though at far less than what it would to lock up these explosive wideouts long-term) and the most likely short-term solution is the tag for both of them.

Not surprised. This is what I suspected.

I still think JT gets franchised and they get DT's contract done in the off season.

That makes much more sense.

That doesnt leave much time to get it done before free agency begins...and it also means paying JT over 8 mil for 2015. I'm just not so sure he's worth that kind of money on any team other than ours.

I think JT leaves and DT is franchised - and i think that is the best move for the team. Unless of course JT asks for about 6/7 mil max - i which case a deal gets done.

With Welker, Franklin and Pot Roast also coming of the wage bill it allows Elway to be aggressive in FA again (O-Line lol)
