View Full Version : Wes Welker specializes as team's "third" option

Wes Welker prefers Xbox numbers, Sundays when he receives 10 targets and records triple digits in yards. But even in a limited role this season, he remains an effective weapon. At 33, in one of the league's most prolific offenses, Welker has morphed into football's version of a left-handed specialist.

"It is kind of strange," Welker said, smirking. "I feel like I am the weak link of our offense. But if I am the weak link, we're going to be OK."

Welker no longer catches as many passes, but his receptions matter. Peyton Manning has thrown his direction nine times on third down this season, leading to six catches and four first downs.

I'd love to see Wes be Peyton's #1 this week racking up 100 yds and multiple TDs. Revis and Browner will be on DT and ES, leaving Welker on a 3rd CB. It would be nice for Wes to be the big hero in this one - especially where we're playing.

Lol...I have a feeling Julius is going to run wild on their defense in this one.

Browner's not suspended for PEDs yet? Odd; it's almost November....

It says something of how elite our WR corps is that a guy like Welker's ONLY the third option. It would say something about the disparity if claims NEs #1 (i.e. Edelman) is as good as our #3 (i.e. Welker) even if that claim were valid, but since it's not, I'll take our WRs and receiving TE on their secondary over their WRs and receiving TE on our secondary. Though I'd much prefer taking our RBs and line on their front seven over their RB and line on our front seven. There's no reason that shouldn't work at least as well as when Moreno gashed them for 200+ yds; our sub RBs are better now, and theirs are worse.

Almost none of that post is relevant to Wes Weller.

Roughly half of it's about Welker.

One sentence in the second paragraph. The rest is not.

That paragraph's first TWO sentences cite Welker by name, and it only has FOUR sentences. And the "first paragraph" ISN'T a paragraph: It's a 10-word header responding to the post quoted.

Mentioning Welker in a sentence hardly means the sentence is about him. So, once sentence.

Get off Joel's nuts. You guys bitching about him is 10 times worse than any of his long winded posts. It's like you guys follow him around just to bitch.

I'm starting to agree slick. I'd rather just see Joel's long-winded posts about football then have to sort through all the pissing contests usually started by SR and MO.

It's ridiculous. The guy's been on the business end of more personal attacks than all of the posters combined in the history of this forum. When I'm not in the mood for a novel I scroll past and address a previous post. It's not that hard.

Mentioned TWICE in just four sentences. And the rest of those two mentions were about what Welker being "only" our third option says of our WRs. Y'know, the THREADS TITLE?

I'd hate for it to come to that but whatever man. Enjoy being a condescending dick.

It's one thing to skip over a Joel novel. It's another thing to skip that novel then have to sift through 10-15 posts of bickering after it. At this point you're trolling him just to troll him, regardless of what's in his post.
