Let's take care of business and put some distance between us and them in the division. I love winning the Thursday game, because it makes Sunday all the sweeter when I can kick back and relax.
A win tonight would create some nice distance in a lot of places. First and foremost:

We'd be 2 games up on SD, COULDN'T lose the first tiebreak (since even winning the rematch would only make them .500 head-to-head) and 2 games up on the second (we'd be 2-0 to their 0-2 in the division.)

We'd stay 1 game up on NE even if they win this weekend, with 9 days to prepare for the road head-to-head; win this one AND that one, and we'd effectively be 3 games up on NE (2+head-to-head.)

We'd stay effectively 2 games up Indy (1+head-to-head) even if they win this weekend.

We'd stay 1 game up on Baltimore even if they win this weekend, though I still think they're benefitting from a soft early schedule and won't win that division, meaning

We'd stay 2½ games up on Cincy even if they win this weekend, making the Week 16 head-to-head less portentous.

With a few exceptions (i.e. that Cincy game, @SD and @Arrowhead) our brutal schedule gets MUCH eaiser after these next two games: We're already half done with the 10 games against teams that made the 2013 playoffs (or should've) and we only lost ONCE—in OT, on the road, against the defending SB Champs. If we take care of business against SD and @NE, there are only 3 playoff teams left in our final 8 games (though all are road games.) Miami, Buffalo, St. Louis and the 2 Oakland games look like cakewalks now, so winning our next two would put us on track for 12+ wins and likely homefield advantage.

This is where we "start finishing the job" though, so it's important to play a full game like we did last week; we saw how dominant this team can be when it does that, and if we can do it twice in 4 days against two good teams, I'll finally start believing this is a championship team (touch wood.) Take care of business and stay healthy, Broncos; other than that, I don't care if we win by 22 or 2 as long as we WIN.

My bad; corrected. I contend usage was correct: We can't KNOW who'll have homefield before anyone clinches, but the first tiebreak's potentially huge—unless we open such a huge lead no one can catch us.


No Brandon Flowers, no Jason Verrett, no problem.
Sure looks that way; just gotta keep Manning upright and healthy, because they'll likely blitz as much as the LAST time Wright and Marshall were their starting CBs against us. I'm still hopeful we can get Hillman going against a soft run D, not just to sideline Rivers and his many good WRs, but because Manning's not hit much on runs, and running well slows the pass rush by making it look over its shoulder.

Every statistical study that has been done on it says it's a no-brainer to go for it on 4th and 1 or shorter. QB sneaks work almost every time.

Yes, but being close to midfield, I think you have to do it. It would have been different if we were at our own 20 or something. Like 3 plays later and SD is already in the same area of the field they would have been in had we gone for it and missed.
