View Full Version : Broncos replace Seahawks as Super Bowl favorites

With the Seattle Seahawks losing for a second time this season — and at home, no less, to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday — they are no longer the Super Bowl favorites.

Once again, the Broncos are the favorites to win it all, as determined by the Westgate Las Vegas Super Book (formerly Las Vegas Hotel & Casino until name change last month). The Broncos have 7-2 odds to win Super Bowl XLIX, while the Seahawks are next at 9-2.

Caution: The Broncos were Super Bowl favorites during each of the previous two regular seasons. And they fell short. But Vegas no doubt likes the Broncos’ chances of getting through the AFC than Seattle’s odds of getting through the NFC.

Seahawks dont look as good as last year thats for sure. But the good teams get hot down the stretch. Everything changes during playoff time boys! Lets just hope the Broncos get real hot during that time.

Exactly, even though the 49ers haven't looked great either, that doesn't mean though won't be hot when the playoffs role around, especially with Bowman coming back.

I wonder if SD or Dallas will fizzle out? Bet its Dallas that doesn't come through in the clutch?

Would have made more sense if Seattle hadn't already beaten Denver this year.

I think Dallas has the offensive line to be consistent offensively, but I don't think the defense is going to be sustainably good. I just don't think they have the defensive tackles to continue to be that good. They are playing Tyrone Crawford out of position, and I think it could bite them in the butt as the season wears on.

He's been really good rushing the passer from the 3tech, but I don't think that's a great solution against the run. I'm surprised Seattle wasn't able to exploit it. I noticed that Lynch averaged 5 ypc for the game, but didn't get many touches. Did anyone see the whole game?

Eh, I suppose....they beat Denver at home in overtime. Seattle is more inconsistent on the road compared to at home.

Pretty much my take, and remember in preseason they struggled to find enough LBs to just keep warm bodies on the field. Their offense is more electric than anything since the Triplets, maybe since Landrys '70s Razzle Dazzle, even if Romo will never be Captain Comeback. But their D's held together with bandaids, bubblegum and prayer; the secondary's not bad, but the front seven? Ugh....

I'd like Dallas to do well if only because I hate Philly so much and no other NFCE can stop them, but the over/under on their games may hit triple digits, and as long as Romo's starting I fear he'll always do what he's always done in December and January. I'd kill to have some of their linemen join Clady and Vasquez though. :(

I don't know how anybody can rank Super Bowl favorites at this point. Would anybody have rated the Ravens or Giants as Super Bowl favorites the years they won?

They didn't look like they had a chance when entering the playoffs! When the Ravens got to the SB I thought the 49ers would destroy them. And who would have thought that the 18-0 Patriots would be beaten by the lowly Giants who barely scraped into the playoffs?

The linemen we'd really like to steal are Cleveland's!

Alex Mack and Joe Thomas and an OL that is possibly the strongest in football (although the injury to Mack might derail that).

Right, but we're talking favorites, not guarantees. The Pats were definite favorites when they finished 16-0, and reinforced that with both playoff wins: That (and the Giants WC) was what made the SB an upset.

That'd be fine by me, too, but it's supposedly impossible for anyone but Clady to run AND pass block well, so their run blocking must automatically make them horrid pass blockers we can't use. :(

Kinda like how it's supposedly impossible for Franklin and Vasquez to run block like Geoff Schwartz and Joe Asamoah?

I won't say it's impossible, but I've never seen it happen, and ain't holding my breath.

I won't say it's impossible, but I've never seen it happen. . .

I think you'd be surprised by how little that matters.
