It's time to move him back outside where he had a fine year last year.

Let the coaches coach. They know what they are doing.

Indeed. I have one criticism. Franklin was better at tackle than guard.

Franklin was a very good RT. Why mess it up?

I've been a fan of his moving to G since they drafted him, it's taking a lot longer than expected to adjust in the running game. Pass Pro he's fine, imo.

Couldn't agree more with OP.

Just don't know about the other option at LG.

seriously though. . . settle down, beavis. . . dude hasn't played inside since his junior year at miami. . . can we give him more than four games to adjust before we scuttle an entire offseason's work?

i saw him bury a couple dudes on the last drive or two. . . he has the skill set, and we have a top-notch OL coach in magazu-- they'll figure it out. . .

I just don't understand the move. He was just fine at RT, and the "roadgrader" theory at LG was just flat wrong, as I said it was.

way too early to call that. . . the move was to get our best five veteran OLs on the field-- and to put a guy with better feet at RT, as pass pro is valued over run blocking from the tackles in a manning offense. . . and in regards to the value of a tough run-blocking interior ol, look at the most recent super bowl teams-- and the denver team that lost their first game against baltimore, when we failed on several third-and-short conversions. . . JFE knows from personal experience as well-- you need to be able to run the ball in the post-season. . . it's worth some struggles early in the year to lay that foundation for success later on, when it matters most. . . especially when you can win anyway in the meanwhile. . .

Franklin has noticeably played poorly at LG this season (most noticeably this last game), but my hope is that he improves over the course of the year. Our OL has potential, but it's not there yet. My hope is that they improve as a unit over the course of the season.

I'd rather have poor OL play in September/October as opposed to January/February.

Did you watch the super bowl?

I also watched the preceding 18 games. And the 17 before that too.

Then I assume that you saw his difficulty with speed rushers. Manning is an important commodity. He goes down and in my opinion the offense and the team go down.

Well, he's made it two years, both with Franklin at RT, won two division titles and played in a Super Bowl. So, I'm going to pretty thoroughly disagree.

I believe that the team is trying to take that final step and its a big one. They don't feel he is the answer a RT but they seem to feel he could be a LG. Sometimes after a weekend of watching and evaluating film I didn't agree with the game plan I had implemented the previous Friday but at the time it was the best I had to work with.

I saw the other 18 games too, Franklin did pretty well against the likes of Justin Houston and Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil.

That's fair enough, and I love this coaching staff. I just disagree with this particular move. Franklin was a good RT. He's a below average LG at this point, and its frustrating because I didn't like the move in the first place.

I think its hard to understand just how different RT and LG guard is. It's similar to learning to throw with your left hand. It can be done, but early on, its going to look pretty funny.

Im def not liking what I see right now from him but our options at LG are limited....Also noticed Ramirez struggling quite a bit as well.....hopefully they get it together. They looked much better at Arizona...

Don't care.

Chris Clark is worse than Orlando Franklin at RT, yet Chris Clark is playing RT. It's not smart.

I agree in pass protection he's been solid. Even so he was a far better right tackle than a left guard at this point. Now with that said Fox isn't going to pull the plug on Franklin playing left guard any time soon.

If anyone needs to be replaced, it's Clark. Sadly, there isn't anyone on the roster to replace him with. Time for a trade?
