ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With his next touchdown pass, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will cross a historical threshold and continue his march toward one of the league's more coveted individual milestones.

Going into Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, Manning has 499 career touchdown passes. His next would make him just the second quarterback in league history to reach 500 and put him on the doorstep of Brett Favre's record of 508.

"It's greatness," Broncos coach John Fox said after Wednesday's practice. "When somebody reaches that kind of statistic in their career, it's pretty remarkable."

One of, if not the, greatest quarterback ever.

Glad he's on my team, giving me meaningful football deep into January and February.

He's only given you meaningful football deep into January (let alone February) ONCE so far; he's an all-time great, but can't do it alone, if only because opponents KNOW he's an all-time great and will focus exclusively on stopping him unless we have a Plan B to keep them honest. It ain't Madden; teams need more than a HoF QB, 7 pass rushers and 4 pick-machines to win a championship.

Keep in mind that Favre was more of a liability to his teams as he continued to play well past his prime. If Manning wants to stretch his career to 20 years, all indications is that he might still be a PB candidate until the day he retires. Favre wasn't even close.

Coach Arians just said if Manning gets the record this week that he's not getting back on the plane.

Of course having an all-time great like Manning burn your team like no one has ever been burned before isn't that worst thing that can happened to you, Orton on the other hand...
