INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts have released receiver Da'Rick Rogers following his arrest for driving under the influence early Monday morning.

"Conduct detrimental," coach Chuck Pagano said. "We've released him. Would be inappropriate to speak further on that."

Rogers, who had teammate Loucheiz Purifoy in the car with him, had a blood-alcohol level of at least .08 percent and less than .15 percent.

More like, zero tolerance if you are an expendable player. I don't think they'd have dumped Reggie Wayne or Robert Mathis if they had done this.

You are probably right.

Another gotcha for the Colts

The Indianapolis Colts will enter the meat of their schedule without safety LaRon Landry.

The team announced Monday that Landry has been suspended without pay for the next four games of the 2014 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.

The eighth-year defender will be eligible to return to Indy's active roster on Oct. 27 following the team's Week 8 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Colts play the New York Giants in Week 9 before heading into their bye.

Not sure how to feel about this (apart from loathing PEDs and having little respect for public endangerment.) On the one hand, anything that drags down a rival for byes and playoff homefield is good—but those rivals include NE and 3-0 Cincy, and we've already got the tiebreak on Indy, so I'd just as soon they had all their weapons (and defenders) against the defending division champs we HAVEN'T beaten.

Yet there's more to life (and death) than football. Driving drunk's driving drunk, endangering not only himself, but everyone else on the road with him—and the teammate in the car with him. And PEDs endanger a whole GENERATION of aspiring athletes, encouraging kids with pro dreams to poison themselves in pursuit of the fame, fortune and praise their idols "earn." With guys like Dick Sherman shrugging off and GETTING off of PED suspensions with lame public excuses like "half the League's on it," how long before kids conclude competing with dopers to make rosters REQUIRES doping?

Frankly, I'd suspend the drinker and cut the juicer; surely endangering THOUSANDS of lives is worth than endangering dozens. :2cents:

They may not have dumped them but they would be suspended for sure.

Sure, but then it's not really zero tolerance. The bigger stars will always be given more chances, unless it's just something so egregious like Ray Rice where there is really no other choice.

Great question! I think he should, just to be consistent in the application of discipline related to moral/criminal conduct.
