The thing I like about the World Cup is that I can easily understand the format.

I just don't get soccer's never-ending and simultaneous seasons... Plus all of the transfers and loans. Like, is Liverpool playing both EPL regular season and Champions League games? Why do you base the teams of the Champions league on the previous season when teams change from year to year?

Is Spain's pro season/schedule completely different from England's? Which is completely different from Germany's?

Spain, Germany, England all generally play their league games on Saturday, Sunday, and maybe Monday. The Champions league, Europa League, domestic cups, etc. usually have their games during the week. That makes it hard for teams like Liverpool when they have a game on Tuesday, then have another game on saturday then later in the year end up having like 6 weeks in a row where they are playing 2 games a week. It means they have to have a deep bench to keep their guys from completely weaing out.

Yes the different Leagues all start their seasons at slightly different times, but all are pretty much playing now.

Playing five-times winners Bayern should have been one of the highlights of CSKA's season but unfortunately for the Russian champions, they will have to play the Group E contest behind closed doors. CSKA were ordered to play the match in an empty arena by UEFA following the poor behaviour of their fans against Viktoria Plzen last December.

I'm all in on Atletico's defense at Vicente Calderon against an upstart in my draft kings lineup. Arsenal only has to beat Olympiakos tomorrow? They should win off goal differential, or do they have to win by 2 or more on head-to-head?

Hey Slick,

They have to win by 2 goals unless they win like 4-3 or 5-4.

What they need to do is overturn the 3-2 defeat suffered at the Emirates back in September. This can be done by either winning by two clear goals, or by one clear goal in a result that matches or exceeds the 3-2 scoreline from their first encounter

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/how-can-arsenal-qualify-for-the-champions-league-last-16-a6764621.html

I don't see how they will without Sanchez, Cazorla and Coquelin missing from their midfield. Ozil will have to have a big day along with Giroud and Walcott(who's just now back from injury). Ramsey might help if he can get forward too.

I'm prepAred to be disappointed.

3-0 dominating victory for the good guys! I'm stoked.

Giroud finished his chances today and Joel Campbell was fantastic. Also, I hope Arsene learned his lesson in regards to his goalkeeper. Cech starts unless he's injured. Ospina put them in the hole in the first place. The first two matches of group play he sucked ass.

The streak is alive! They won't win the trophy but hopefully they can make some noise.

City,Chelsea and Arsenal all through. Man U was the only English team not to advance.

They got jobbed out of a penalty. Handball in the box and the ref awarded a free kick just outside the box.

The Barca/Man City and Atletico/Bayern matches will be good.

Leicester has a fairly easy group too. Group B is a virtual wtf group. Arsenal should advance fairly easily and we'll have to hope we draw Benfica or Moscow if they finish second to PSG. Juventus, Bayern, Barca or Real Madrid will slaughter the Gunners.
