They need some time to gel.

That's an underestimate. They look very bad. Worse than last year. Next week is going to be brutal to watch.

It takes time to gel.

I think the gel is leaky and runny.

They need more than gel - at this point they need to cement

No...we've had the same DC for 3 years now and we added very good veterans on defense.

Screw that! Gel time should have happened in camp.

We had a very good defense 2 years ago. On paper we should be just as good if not better than that this year.

17 points to a division rival and another two Goal-to-go stands is promising, not to mention a TD and Sack/fumble wiped out by stupidity on the final drive.

You guys are trippin. Defense held a NFL team to under 21 points. Thats a win any sunday.

What should make people nervous is that the offense is not scoring 30+ pts every game.

No way to put a spin on it. We have done this 2 weeks in a row now. We HAVE to put teams away.

Too many dumb penalties during big plays.

DT had a TD called back.
Sanders had a long return called back.
Talib had a pick 6 called back.
And countless drives were extended when we had Smith at 3rd and long because of dumb penalties.

70 yards in penalties isnt good.

Denver needs a D that can make plays and keep the score reasonable, I'll take those Int's and fumbles over the yards they give up. The 3rd-and-longs will even out as the pass rush develops.

Actually, they need gel to rub on their nether regions to ease the pain of what opposing offenses are doing to them.

And what the refs are doing to them, amirite?

How many different starters do we have than last year? 8 or so?

Cement is always hardening. It is weakest when it is first poured. Del Rio is a concrete expert.

What they're doing to themselves.

I hope so 'cause I'm starting to wonder about his defensive expertise.

Broncos D gave up 8/13 3rd down conversions. Smith took the underneath plays for 3-5 yards s constantly. Short pass after short pass plus a few runs along the way down the field. 18 play 10 minute drive for 90 yards.

Can't let the QB get ball out so quick or else the pass rush will never make it to him.

Yeah, I agree, and what the refs were doing too. Like calling PI on Harris for getting ran into.

This is the theory I'm going to go with. The Broncos are playing for the postseason. They figure these first two games are an extension of the preseason. They just need their starters to play a bit and get some points, and not lose.

Seattle will be a good reality check. I'm not going to fret until after I see what they look like in that game.

It's like we just put the jello in the fridge. Let's give it a little big so we can eat it. Not drink it. Eat it.

At times our D looks great and other times looks like a deer in headlights. We have a lot of good pieces to work with. I'm hopefully that we will eventually put together a complete effort. My biggest worry is that our play calling hasn't been great. This can still be a top 5 D.
