ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway has said the team needs its draft classes to be "our foundation," and to that end the Broncos kept seven rookies when they made their initial roster cut to 53 players.

And some in that first-year class have already had an impact a week into the regular season. So, with that in mind, here's the first of what will be a weekly look at the Broncos' rookie class.

Roby looked really nice; again, for a rookie covering a Pro Bowlers passes to a HoFer, he couldn't have done any better than knock down the 4th down pass that ended the game. Recovering Burses fumble was just icing on the cake. Speaking of STs, I missed Thompson out there, but am glad to know he got a fair number of snaps; maybe he'll do his Terrell Davis impression in a regular season game (he's built similarly: Same height; just 10 lbs. heavier, and I like him channelling Jim Browns desire to make TACKLERS fear HIM.)

If Marshall has any more tackles like the one that led to the Colts 2nd TD the Broncos might wanna give the rookie LB's some time.
