Swanson was a punt returner for a few games in 87. I only remember him because I had a friend back then that was a huge Nebraska fan and he talked about him like he was the great white hope.

And yes...Massie was the one that was afraid to fly

Sorry, but that name is seared into my consciousness. Worst draft pick in Broncos history.

How about LB Cyril Obiazor? I bet none of you remember him!

His name is the most awesome of all former Broncos though. He sounds like a minion of Ming the Merciless:

Ming: "Cyril Obiazor! You have let Flash Gordon escape again! I should shove you out an airlock into the icy depths of space!"

Obiazor: "Mercy your supreme exaltedness!"

I got a football card of his when I was a kid. That's the only reason I know who he is.
Back in... '95, I think, he broke the NFL record for all purpose yardage in a game, against Tennessee IIRC. I have no idea if that record still stands, but it's how I remember him, mainly because my Broncos fandom only began after that seasons SB, so Denver was only peripherally on my radar. In my defense, picking Denver (or ANY AFC team) to win the SB when that one-and-done shocker against the Jags was still fresh really put me out on a limb, but the Broncos preserved my string of picking SB winners in preseason.

Anyway, I'm late to the party, so got nothin'. The only folks I can name are the old timers fans of other teams (like me) saw/heard about and players so recent every Broncos fan remembers them. Cooper Carlisle and George Foster come to mind, for example, because they made me livid on a regular basis, but I'm sure most of ya'll remember why. Champs brother Boss, maybe? Ron Dayne, who played his guts out for us and Houston without ever getting his due?

Is he really? I was always pissed after we released him because we decided nickelbacks don't play enough to justify big money and we had such great #2s playing opposite Champ that we didn't need him for that. 'Cause Andres Bly and Goodman were SO exceptional we were better off paying them starting CB money than Foxworth, whom I always thought more reliable than Darrent Williams. Foxworth was like a lot like Chris Harris, playing his guts out (in one game, literally) and well without ever getting the recognition.

The difference is just 5 years was long enough to go through 2 new coaches before finding one who realized that nickelbacks actually DO play a lot of downs in todays NFL, and starters get hurt, so it's worth paying to keep a guy like Foxworth or Harris even when you've got guys like Champ and DRC/Talib. Anyway, DEFINITELY remember him. ;)
