They seem to be having the same problem as Baltimore. Sometimes I think it's the same team. Loads of power potential...with low HR totals, great defense...but inconsistent pitching. Win the games that you should lose and lose the games you should win.

Well, they've given up two three-run homers and a grand slam tonight to the team who has hit the least number of home runs in the bigs this year. So, it's not looking good.

I've a feeling that if you look up how teams are ranked in terms of HR given up, I'm pretty sure the D-Backs would be among the worst.

Royals are the definition of streaky this year. Win 7, lose 5...win 8, lose 10. But it appears that any team that is within 3 runs of Detroit has a chance once they get to the bullpen. Key is getting the starters out of the game. Verlander hasnt been great, Sanchez going to DL, Sherzer slowing down and Price not looking very good since the trade.

Good answer Mo.

So, are the Royals going to be as good this year? How's their bullpen looking? Same? I don't watch baseball anymore, I find it boring on TV, but I know when your average pitch speed is getting over 92 mph batters are praying they can get a hit. Pitchers are winning big right now and they will probably have to make some sort of change to help offense out if it keeps up.

Bullpen is fine, maybe best in bigs; questions as to whether Ventura and Duffy are ready to lead a pitching staff for a full season without Shields.

Hosmer and Moustakas have to hit for a full season and as of now Kendrys Morales and Alex Rios look like good additions, maybe better than Billy Butler and Nori Aoki who they replaced. Salvy Perez might be the best backstop in the American League. Gordon looks like he's still recovering from surgery, but he's playing.

Brett Lawrie is a jackass who went up spikes high and hard. Royals did exactly what they should do and plunked him the next day. Ventura gets ejected. Lawrie clearly accepted it as fair, he took his base. Should be end of story.

Instead, Josh Reddick goes off post game and says there will be retribution. Kazmir hits Cain in the first inning. Doesn't get ejected. So Lawrie got thrown at again.

I have no problem with the Royals actions. The slide by Lawrie was about as bad as it gets, spikes high off the base. The amazing thing is how piss poor the umpires were. Six Royals got ejected. No A's. But the Royals' shortstop is hurt. The whole thing is bullshit.

I guess will have to wait for the Commish's ruling. I don't remember all of the details, because I didn't watch the game, but a couple of years ago the Dbacks & Dodgers had an incident that lead to a "basebrawl" right before the “All-Star” break. Based on what I was told by those who watched it, all of whom are Dbacks fans, the Dodgers started it. When the ruling came out, several Dbacks got suspended, including one that was clearly trying to break up the fight. On the other hand, a Dodger (who was an all-star, I believe outfielder) that was clearly seen throwing a sucker punch to the back of the head of a Dback got away with it.

The Royals are trying to kill their fans!

Hot dogs aren't wholesome at the best of times.

At the worst of times, they're among the most putrid foods a consumer can put in his or her system. The Kansas City Royals are at the centre of a ballpark hot dog scandal after a local TV station took a closer look at the MLB team's heavily-promoted 'Buck Night' – which sees hot dogs at Kauffman Stadium sold for $1.00. Sounds great, right? A reprieve from inflated ballpark prices seems like good community relations. That is, until the actual product is put under the microscope.

Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura dies in Dominican Republic vehicle crash at age 25

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansas-city-royals/article128080059.html

By Rustin Dodd
rdodd@kcstar.com

Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura, who mesmerized fans with his precocious talent, scintillating fastball and fiery swagger, was killed in a traffic crash in his native Dominican Republic, the team confirmed Sunday morning. Ventura was 25.

The wreck occurred on Carretera Juan Adrian, a highway near Rancho Arriba, a town in the San Jose de Ocoa province of the Dominican Republic, according to Jacobo Mateo Moquete, a colonel in the Dominican National Police.

Officials in the Dominican Republic completed an autopsy on Sunday, according to Moquete. The funeral services for Ventura will take place in his hometown of Las Terrenas, though the date is unclear.
