As veteran kick returner Devin Hester gets ready to hit the open market for the first time in his career, he’ll have some competition.

Per a league source, the Broncos have opted not to apply a restricted free agency tender to Trindon Holliday. It means that he’ll become a free agent on March 11.

Holliday, listed at five feet, five inches tall, returned 28 kickoffs in 2013, generating an average of 27.7 yards per attempt in 2013, including a 105-yard touchdown return. He also returned 32 punts, with an average of 8.5 yards and an 81-yard score.

I'll go nuts if we go after Devin Hester.

Wouldnt make any sense to let Decker walk then. Why? Because Hester is going to cost a couple mill anyway and Deckers probablly going to come in between 5-7 mill a year on average. Decker can be our #2 AND our return guy! You get 2 for the price of one WR with Eric Decker!! Yes he is going to cost alot more than Hester but look at Deckers production in the NFL the past couple of years. He's been a monster....a moster I tell you. Give me the monster and scrap the scrubs.

No surprise... He was given a number of chances and has a ton of talent, but you just can't trust him to make the right decision or hold onto the ball.

Mo, what are your feelings on the Broncos letting a brother little person walk? Any thoughts of law suit or injunctions?

Agreed. He pretty much became a waste of a roster spot once his special teams role got cut back, as there was nothing else on the field he was able to do. I wish him the best, but it's time for Denver to move on.

Oh my gosh, I never even thought of that similarity. THAT'S why Mo loves him so much. It all makes sense now.

With the offense we have, we just need someone to hold on to the damn ball. No need to be a super hero. But everytime the ball was kicked to Holiday I would hold my breath. It was either going to be a good return or a devastating turnover.

He can't physically be counted on to hang on. He's just too damn little. Sure he's exciting, but the risk at this point is greater than the potential reward. Short arms and small hands ala Bienemy

To be clear, Holliday becomes a free agent next week. According to league sources, Broncos would consider re-signing at a different number.

Regarding Holliday, once the Broncos release him, they will consider bringing him back at a lower number. They do plan to release him.

He manned up vs Balt. He's electric but man, just can't shake the fumbles. Texans got sick of it, now Denver got sick of it. Appreciate his effort but the rule change dramatically affected his worth.

Darren Sproles.

He is Moreno and Holliday rolled into one for about 3 mill a year.

I could never figure out if Holliday is good or bad because he is so wildly inconsistent - touchdown one week, fumble the next. The giveaway he sucks is Wes Welker replaced him and Eric Decker filled in for Welker, so I don't know why they would want to bring Holliday back for a lower salary.

just had problems getting his little feet set before the catch, is why he always had trouble with the ball.

just had problems getting his little feet set before the catch, is why he always had trouble with the ball. or it could be that his little hands, arms and feet make him genetically disposed to putting the ball on the ground.
