Ok, I know a lot of you don't like rules, etc. but if you have a question from an official's point of view, I'll do my best to answer it. It can be a rules question or a "what in the hell were they thinking question" - I'll do my best to answer it. Post the questions/thoughts here.

At what point is it safe to throw in a towel during a live game?

When your team is getting its butt kicked and the 2nd half kick off is returned for a TD. It's safe at that point.

Are those black pants uncomfortable? Would a person such as myself who is well endowed be able to wear em? Are they polyester or spandex?

They come in different material and can either be thin or thick. They're much more comfortable than the old white knickers. I'm living proof that being supremely well endowed doesn't affect the wear of the pants.

Neither, they just have such a high level of intelligence that it's incomprehensible to the simpletons of the animal kingdom.

If we were in the politics section I would ask you to read up a few posts where I talk about how intelligent we (officials) are, therefore there is no way I would have ever voted for him. Since we're not in the politics section I'll refrain from answering. :D

Why the Hell does almost any penalty on the defense result in an automatic first down while most penalties on the offense result in playing the down over? Why can't we have one penalty be an automatic 4th down?

Sometimes I forget you're nut (and this is why "you're" and "your" are very important) LOL

You need to have "Nut" back in your user name - Maybe ANutGap? Maybe AGappyNut?

Ref what do you think?

I don't really understand that myself. It's not that way at the college level. Defensive holding against an eligible receiver is an automatic first down and of course DPI and personal fouls, but we don't have illegal contact fouls or anything like that. I don't have a good answer for you.

And you're always my favorite guest. You always go right to the front of the line. I would define an ineligible receiver as a player who, by alignment, position, action, or number is ineligible to be the first person to touch a forward pass. If you need me to expound on this I'd be happy to.

Hmmm, I don't know if I should answer this on the grounds that it would incriminate me. Honestly, officials are encouraged to get physicals every year. I know a lot of them who wear glasses or contacts.
