I fell behind on this in the preseason, but at least week 1 is here and now comes the in depth look at the stats from week 1. I tried to apply this to the WRs, but it was rather uninteresting is no one receiver caught very many passes.

Legend

Comp/At <- Completed Passes/Attempts
Comp % <- Percent of passes completed
Yards <- Total Yards
TD/Int <- Touchdowns to Interceptions
Rating <- Passer rating
Neg <- Number of Negative gains

Avg/C <- Average yards per completion
Std/C <- Standard deviation for completion(Consistency)
Avg/A <- Average yardage per attempt
Std/A <- Standard Deviation for attempts(Consistency)

Quarterback

Kyle Orton

Comp/At = 17/28
Comp % = 60.7%
Yards = 243
TD/Int = 1/0
Rating = 100.7
Neg = 1
Sack yards lost = -7

Avg/A = 8.93 Yards
Std/A = +/- 17.00
Avg/C = 13.89 Yards
Std/C = +/- 19.65

It should be noted that in statistics when the standard deviation is much larger than the average especially when there are little to no negative numbers that the average is said to be unstable. Or in other words worthless because barely any of the values are close to the average. To see if this is due to the 87 yard TD we will remove that one play to examine the effect.

Avg/C = 10.19
Std/C = +/- 7.32
Avg/A = 6.037
Std/A = 7.55
Per completion is stable, but per attempt is still unstable. Which means that there was no consistency per attempt. In a final attempt to accurately rate this the exact value of the deviation is averaged.

Number of plays below average = 16
Number of plays above average = 12
Avg Deviation = -9.87 * 10^-16
So on average Orton was making plays below his rated average of 6.037.

Running Backs

Buckhalter

Attempt = 8
Yards = 46
TD = 0
Fumble = 0
Neg = 1

Avg = 5.75 Yards
Std = +/- 5.26
He had a good, but rather inconsistent day.

Knowshawn Moreno

Attempt = 8
Yards = 19
TD = 0
Fumble = 0
Neg = 1

Avg = 2.38 Yards
Std = +/- 3.81
Not a great day for the rookie. I do hope he can turn it around.

All other players did not have an ample sample size to measure so this is all for now.
