I compiled a set of charts which shows a QBs playoff wins over time. This data was generated using a type of running average. This is a common statistical tool employed to analyze trends. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moving_average]. The way it was used in this study was for each year the number of playoff wins of the current year was averaged with the wins of the previous year and the next year. What results is a curve that is less sensitive toward single anomalies. The resulting graph shows a general trend of a period of time. For instance if you took Trend Dilfer’s playoff record and examined it would look like this: [http://imgur.com/LRxaGy1].
The graph shows that Dilfer’s career had very mild success and then around 2000 a peak when he won the superbowl. Following that his post season career flat lined.
For this study seasons where the player was injured were removed from the data set. So for instance Brady was injured in the 2008 season so the account for that the 2007 season was averaged with the 2006 and 2009 seasons instead. I attempted to remove as many injury years as I could find.
**Data for Brady, Elway, Manning, Montana, and Marino:**http://imgur.com/a/SQ3OE
I can add a few more QBs later, but for right now I picked some of the more well-known ones from the last two decades.
