Defensive end Derek Wolfe was the only player missing from the Broncos' Thursday practice. After coming down with an illness Nov. 29, Wolfe missed most of the month of December, returning on Christmas Day only to miss the next day with the flu. He was back for last Friday's practice, though he didn't make the trip to Oakland for the Broncos' Week 17 game.

Something is up with this guy and I wish we could get an honest view on it. The mysterious illness and missing that much time to "sickness" is really really odd.

I do know tht this defense misses him. He and Vick together made this defense tough against the run. Now that both have been out, we have been TERRIBLE.

I'll bet he wants badly to come back after missing so much time. So long as he's ready on January 12th, I'm not concerned.

Hope he can still contribute. . This whole secrecy thing about certain injuries/illnesses is weird

I genuinely believe all of this goes back to the hit and neck injury he sustained in the preseason game against Seattle. I also believe the team may not have taken all the correct precautions and/or didn't have a full understanding of his injury.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the team place him on IR and fill the roster spot going into the POs.

There was a time as Wes Welker was recovering from his second concussion that he felt he was ready to play.

The Broncos' medical team held the star slot receiver out a while longer, anyway, and in retrospect he's glad for it.

"It took a little bit of time," Welker said Thursday in his first interview since his second concussion in a three-week period on Dec. 8. "Even when I felt I was 100 percent, looking back you weren't 100 percent. It's always a tricky injury and just trying to manage it and everything else, but the doctors and trainers did a great job of just doing the things necessary to get me back out on the field."

With HIPPA, there is the possibility that Derek does not want it made public

The seizure-like episode was part of a lengthy lists of medical setbacks Wolfe has experienced this season. It started with a bout of food poisoning in training camp, followed by a scary neck injury in a preseason game at Seattle. His weight dropped and the stress he felt made it difficult for him to put weight back on.

Poor guy is probably worrying to much. I don't think there's any doubt about his drive to compete. I doubt the coaching staff would hesitate to reassure him of his spot on the team next year.
