You're all good Way! I just had to get my bitch in for the day.

Isn't that what game day threads are for:lol:

How's your new home treating you? Isn't it Pueblo?

Hey Nomad!! Yah, we are finally settled in here in Pueblo West. We are happy with the home. Got a lot of bang for our buck here. Things are good and the family is adjusting to life in Colorado. Thanks for asking.

Oh, and yah, that is what GDT are for I suppose.

The texans have a good secondary/pass defense and it shows. Manning is having to put most of his throws in very tight windows.
It's talented, but not GOOD; Kareem Jackson in particular is routinely torched for huge plays. Even the last two years it's been frustrating watching the Texans D because they habitually get teams in 3rd and 25+ only to give up a 30+ yd pass; last year they had Indy in 3rd and 30+ in their second game and gave up a 70 yd TD.

Remember: This is on a team with one of the best pass rushes in the NFL (which is why they get teams in 3rd and pack-a-lunch so often.) That rush makes their passing stats look very good, and should, but their secondary's pretty awful apart from Joseph (who left early in this game,) that's why they drafted Swearinger and he's starting.

4-3 for life, especially shifting into a 4-4 , using a safety as the 4th lb
I loved the 4-3 when the NFL was still run oriented, but in a pass dominant league the 3-4 makes FAR more sense (assuming you have a couple good NTs to rotate and lots of good OLB.) It's better for blitzing and it's better for covering checkdowns and extra receivers; granted a nickelback or safety beats a LB in coverage, but stretch the matchups far enough and it comes down to whether you want a LB or DE covering a TE/RB. And that's no question at all, even with the 4-3s speed-rushing DEs (who'll be doing just that on passes, not covering anyone.)

The extra beef at the line only makes sense when the priority's stopping the run first; when passing becomes top priority, the 3-4 just brings so much more to the table in so many ways.

Decker always pushes off, it's kinda his MO. But so what? That also describes about 1/3 of the receivers in the league. There's an art to getting away with it.
Regardless, Decker didn't push off on THAT play because the defender initiated contact and Decker just shoved him right BACK to get loose for the catch. That's what we WANT him to do.

Definitely not a catch but it counts
Regarding Mannings 50th season TD: I still think it was debatable either way; if he's got full control ball movement shouldn't be an issue (e.g. if he's streaking down the sideline with the ball in one hand away from his body in HORRIBLE form, the ball will move up and down a lot as he pumps his arms, but he's still got possession.) Since the initial call was a TD, I believe they need ironclad incontrovertible proof to overturn it, even on the automatic score/turnover reviews.

In larger sense, the 3rd down TD made up for the missed PI at the goal line on the previous play that even Fouts said was awful: Blow one down there, blow one down here. ;)

So 5 players with 10 TDs, most TDs ever, longest FG ever.....what else?
17 pts, 267 passing yard and 1 more TD to get the all purpose season record from Brady (who ran for 2 in '07; Manning only had the one every-five-year goal line run.)

Thank you Mike Adams for turning this game around. You may not be flashy, but youre always around the ball and getting the job done.
THIS is why I preferred Adams to Moore the past two years: As a centerfielder (which is what true FS is) he's just much better. Adams covers better; we saw it when he knocked down the 4th down end zone pass to end the second KC game, and we saw it when he turned around this game. He may not get tons of picks, but going for picks everytimes means a lot more receptions, too, just as big hits AFTER A CATCH are far less valuable than preventing the catch in the first place.

I wish we'd let Adams play centerfield at FS, Duke lay wood at SS, and Moore back both, since he does both OK but neither WELL.

Congrats to Manning on a phenomal record to which I can only hope he adds several more by halftime next week, and to our Broncos for clinching the AFCW.

Congrats also to Moreno for gouging the Texans for 76 yds on 11 carries (just under a 7 yd avg.) and cresting the 1000 yd season mark with a game to go. He had some big ones at key moments to extend drives and/or move them into the red zone, and that's EXACTLY what we'll need in the playoffs. Ball continued to look good in relief, too.

Huge congrats to Mike Adams continuing to show why I've liked him so much ever since he arrived in Denver. Not only did he completely turn around a game in danger of slipping away from us today, he did so just a few weeks after he knocked down a 4th down pass in the end zone to put the nail in KCs drive to tie at the end in Arrowhead. The younger guys may have more native talent, but he's got the experience-honed skill a championship FS needs; next time someone tries a playoff Hail Mary against us at the end of BOTH halves, I know who I want covering it.

Mad props to our D for an outstanding full game of quality effort. As someone else noted, apart from a single TD drive they were lights out all game against a talented offense where EVERYONE was playing for their job, and our D did theirs even after our former DRoY joined many other starters on the sideline hurt.

I honestly don't know what to say about our offensive line; they were truly wretched in the first half and got Manning killed, but the pass protection improved slightly in the second half and on one of Balls runs for a first down I couldn't help saying, "look at that HOLE on the right side!" I just wish they could run AND pass block well AT THE SAME TIME for A WHOLE GAME.

I'm still dubious of Fox going for it on 4th and 4 well inside Praters range early, but it was statistically the right call; as long as we score 17 pts next week I have no complaints.

The sole real downside is Millers injury, but hopefully it's not too serious (from what I can tell, Deckers wasn't since he had a couple TDs later.)

Okay, that does it for me; good win, Broncos (btw NE is up 17-0 midway through the 2nd; looks like our starters will be just that next week, at least through the first half.)

Since you live in Baltimore and have to put up with their tripe on a daily basis I can understand why you say this but OTOH is the Ravens wins Denver is clinches the number one seed.

Honestly, i would rather Denver keep playing for the seeding. I dont want anything handed to them. I dont want this team getting complacent, keep them motivated knowing they havent wrapped it up yet. But yes, hate dealing with Ravens fans and the sooner they are out of playoff contention the better. NE is going to make the playoffs anyway so might as well have them do us some favors by taking out the Ravens along the way.

He's awesome. He really is. It's the little things. Like the way he talked to Mincey when he first came in. He recognized him and told him the team needed him. Imagine Peyton Manning telling you that. He knows everything about football. He memorizes so many current and former players. He's extremely humble. To me, he's going down as the best ever. His stats are amazing. He has a ring, maybe more. He had the neck surgery and wasn't meant to be as good as he was, but (statistically) he's better. He's still breaking records after missing an entire season and having neck surgery. I can't get over that. People can bash on him all day, because he's not perfect. No player is. Everyone will find something. I still don't think any player matches up to him when you throw everything together.
