ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- This week, the Broncos will practice twice. But there's no game waiting on the other end.

The Broncos' bye week has arrived, so the players will have Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. Until then, they'll work on some self-scouting.

“What happens is we gave the players the day off other than treatment with the medical people," Head Coach John Fox explained. "We’ll take and look at – the coaching staff right now, obviously, we’re cleaning up the game. We also had to clean up our Oakland game, which was on a short week when we played them. We hadn’t graded that. So we cleaned all of that up. The rest of the day, the coaching staff will go over self-scout things, areas to improve and we’ll do some film study."

As far as practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, they'll look a little different.

John Fox and the Denver Broncos kicked off their bye week Monday morning, and only the coach was available to talk at the team's practice facility. Players were given the day off except for those who needed treatment for injuries.

Fox didn't have much of an injury update on Duke Ihenacho and Julius Thomas, both of whom left Sunday's game with ankle injuries. He did disclose on Sunday that Thomas' injury was a sprain, and he said Monday that all of the testing on that ankle has come back negative.

Fox and his staff spent Monday grading out the game against the Redskins and also grading and "cleaning up" the team's Sept. 23 contest against the Raiders, which was a Monday night game and thus part of a short week. For the rest of the week, the team will practice just twice before taking off Thursday to Sunday, and coaches will focus on giving looks to younger players, addressing weaknesses and holding out players who are sore or "somewhat injured," Fox said.
