Wow, I can't believe there wasn't a thread for this show already!

So I guess this will be the thread for everything Sookie Stackhouse, Vampire Bill, Eric Northman, and Bon Temps on HBO! :D Except it's in the orange, so it has to stay PG. LOL!

As of right now, we are waiting ANOTHER week for the second season finale because HBO figured labor day weekend would loose viewers or something. :tsk: Though I don't know if I want to find out WTF is up with that egg...

Anyway, I'm here to share this youtube link. It has some inappropriate language for the orange label, so I won't imbed it...

The book series by Charlaine Harris is wonderful.

The show doesn't follow the books exactly, but it does a great job.

True Blood has made the bigtime! Did anyone see House on Monday? Wilson was talking to House and at one point he said "I am vampire, Sookie!" :pound: I had to rewind it to see if that's what he really said, and it was! WOOT!!!

Some shows you watch for the intellectually stimulating plot, like House. Some shows you watch for purely entertainment value, like American Idol. When I think about it, I can only think of one show like House. It's House. But there are a billion shows like American Idol. Apparently, it's easier to create TV without thinking.

True Blood is one of the pure entertainment value shows. Don't think too hard about it or you will ruin it. The only thing that ruins House is if you ARE a doctor and see what they do wrong, or if you notice that they think every patient has "sarcoidosis" and after 6 seasons, it was actually sarcoidosis only once. And while there are some good looking people at Dr. House's hospital, there are a shitload of hot people, living AND dead, in True Blood's Bon Temps, La. :salute:

This concludes my compare/contrast essay on intellectual vs. eye candy TV shows. :girl:

House doesn't do it for me either. I've seen enough medical dramas to last me a lifetime. The genre has been played out. The main character is a great actor, I do like that guy.

The HBO programs worth watching IMO are as follows.

The Wire (probably the best police drama I have ever seen)
Deadwood
The first few seasons of Sopranos. Later on, not so much
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Entourage (shank thinks its ghey, I happen to think the Ari Gold character is brilliant...dude kills me)
basically any HBO Documentary

I tried to do True Blood girler. I didn't have HBO for a couple years so I got on board late with it. I even downloaded Season 1 just so I could give it a fair shake. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's the whole vampire premise.

I will now vacate this thread as taste in TV/movies/music is so subjective and I wouldn't begrudge anyone from getting their entertainment on.

Don't think I didn't try though. ;)

I couldn't do vampires for most of my life. They just didn't do ANYTHING for me. I had to find them funny first, then find them sexy before I could find them dangerous.

But ya, everyone has their own tastes. I don't watch many shows at all, and I don't have any pay channels. Suffice it to say my high school mascot was a pirate. ;)

House reminds me of Koontz's novels-same old recycled plot over and over.

Change characters, rinse and repeat.

Ya, I think they hit the top when they killed off CB. After that it's just not as fun. But I still enjoy it, like I enjoy Koontz. LOL.

Yeah, it's kind of like the framework is already set for each episode, they just have to insert a new illness and characters.

For a while there I was DVR'ing each week but I lost interest pretty fast. Now I watch every so often. I watched an episode last night that was pretty good.

House does have a pretty standard format for each show. However, i love Laurie's character too much to stop watching. The last episode for the season was great. As for the new TB, saw the trailer just now and FINALLY, the werewolves will have their day. \m/

Ok, who watched Sunday's episode??? I didn't get to watch it until last night, and by then I had heard about "the unforgettable sex scene," so I was watching for it. First there was Franklin Mott and Tara. Hmm... interesting, but not W:eek:W. Then there was another one. Crap, I can't even remember who was in the second scene. Then I was just completely enjoying the show- just absorbing a whole hour of brand new True Blood. It was great writing, mostly great acting, and it was NEW NEW NEW!!! I was in heaven!!!! I totally forgot about watching for the "amazing sex scene."

Then BAM!!! Oh. My. Gosh. There it was. :spit: I was loving it until the "twist" there at the end, and whoa!!!! :boxing: :look: :goodnight: Now that's sex that ONLY vampires could have!!!

I like how they are showing what's going on with Bill instead of just Sookie looking for him like in the books. This makes Bill more... human? thoughtful? strong? Something like that. I still hope Sookie gets to come and "kill Lorena's ass" though. That's awesome.

Lets just say that Vampires are more bendable than the average human. Basically, male vampire bangs female vamp and while banging twists her head 180 degrees and she then says "I love you". The End.

You have to understand the love/hate relationship of A) vampire makers and their "children," and B) this particular set of maker and child. This maker is and has been sick sick sick (well duh, she's a vampire) and the child is sick of being sick. He has been yanked away from everything he loves AGAIN, (and who knows how many times that's happened) yet he is totally compelled to have sex with his maker, who loooooves him so much! Talk about dysfunctional. Good thing breaking their necks doesn't kill them. Because Sookie gets to kill her. I wonder if Alan Ball will let her forgive Bill. Charlaine Harris doesn't.

I don't know about you guys, but I think this week's episode was the BEST ever!

I so totally want to use the line that Lorena used on Sookie: "I will rip you open and wear your ribcage as a hat."

That is pure brilliance. :salute: I have been waiting for the time Sookie kills Lorena because I couldn't stand her, but that line makes me want to keep her around longer.

Jeez, i like the show, but last couple of episodes are lite gay porn. Watching the developing romance between Lafayette and his new boyfriend is like eating a bowl of crushed glass while watching a trainwreck in slow motion. My wife was laughing her ass off at the look on my face during the kissing scene. I left the room because it took so frikking long. I had to ask her like 3 times if it was over yet. And what is it with all the gay vampires? Is this a clever way for hollywood to get us to enjoy homo-erotica?

Yvette, eric's exotic dancer/pet is HAWT too. For some reason, I think Sookie is an ugly dog. I can't believe she was chosen for the main role with all the hotties around. She looks like an ugly duckling compared to everyone else cast in the show.

That kiss scene was weird- but I guess if you want to watch, you watch? As for the vampires, they pretty much enjoy sex no matter who they are with, I guess. Part of the bonus of being a vamp?
