ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – One quarter of the 2013 season is complete and the Broncos have yet to lose. Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway sat down with Chris Hall of Broncos TV to talk about the start that the Broncos have had and preparation for the Dallas Cowboys in the Week 5 edition of the Elway Access Podcast presented by US Bank Flex Perks.

The Broncos are coming off the best offensive showing in team history as they set a record for points scored with 52. Even so, there is always room for improvement.

“The thing is, any time you go through the film – it’s never as good as you think it is and it’s never as bad as you think it is,” Elway said. “So there’s always room for improvement. Obviously it’s exciting to be able to score 52 points. Now you have to look at it, 14 of those were on special teams, so offensively we only scored 38 (laughs). But it’s exciting to be 4-0 and get through the first quarter of the season.”

2 of the TDs were from special teams and the offense only scored 38. Then again, Manning only played 3 quarters.

I'll take points anyway we can get them. Btw wasn't Johnson's blocked punt the 3rd of the year for the Broncos?

And there is no guarantee Manning wouldn't have led us on TD drives on those two drives regardless.

Take a moment and pause to reflect what an outstanding job Elway and crew (including the two drunks) have done in assembling the group they have built around Manning. Some owners would have signed a guy like Peyton and then made him the excuse why the team didn't sign supporting players. But Elway has added pieces (Welker, Vasquez, DRC, Phillips) with a specific goal in mind which is to give Manning the best shot possible to win a Super Bowl. Have to give credit to Pat Bowlen too. Considering where we were after firing McDiapers, it is a huge climb in a short time.

If Elway and his staff can keep doing what they're doing right now the Broncos will continuing being the Super Bowl conversations for years to come.
