View Full Version : Ball's Rookie Journal: Addressing a Mistake

I want to start out this week's post by addressing my fumble.

You definitely don’t want to do that. For me, it was just a lack of focus, a huge rookie mistake. My eyes got big because I saw the end zone, I got lazy with the football and it popped out. We definitely corrected it. I’ve been working on ball security all week. It’s never been an issue with me. The coaches talked with me and said that it’s never been an issue with me – that’s why they drafted me. Other than that, when I went to the sideline, no one was really yelling at me. They told me to make sure to pay more attention to it, put a lot of emphasis on it, on carrying the football. That’s the number one thing for a running back – ball security. I went to the sideline, everyone encouraged me and I went back out there and kept playing.

The fact that they put me back out there, that’s one thing I respect the most about the coaches, they kept faith in me. They had faith in me to put me back out there to continue contributing with the offense.

I think Montee will be fine and I still think by the time we got the playoffs he's the starter. He still has quite a bit of growing to do first though.

If he does become the starter he will definitely earn it, because Moreno doesn't look intent on giving it up any time soon.

Moreno is playing the best ball of his career right now, no doubt. I just think Montee has a higher ceiling and will learn enough to take.over at some point this season.

Part of me wants to see Ball become the starter because that means he will have improved his play. But another part of me wants to see Moreno keep the job because of the adversity he has fought through in the past few years and how he has kept his head up through it. Regardless of who starts though, both will still get their fair share of carries I would assume.

One good game and we completely forget how utterly forgettable Moreno is everything.

He's in the top 10 in the NFL in every major rushing stat since he became the starter last season. Not to mention his effectiveness in the passing game. It's funny how wrong you are about this.

So now he's a top10 RB?

Don't think I said that. But explain how someone who is so "forgettable" has put up the numbers he has in the last 8 games. For the record, here are those stats:

631 rushing yards, 6 TD, 218 rec yds. Over the course of a 16 game season that would come out to 1262 rushing yds, 12 TD, and 436 rec yds. But continue to hate on him for no apparent reason at all.

Moreno has been pretty damn good since taking over last year. I think once Ball starts feeling more comfortable we're gonna have one helluva 1-2 punch at the RB position. Add in Anderson and we'll be sitting pretty at RB.

CJ is probable for this week so maybe we will see him.

Hillis has a few good games and he's overrated by Broncos fans, Moreno has A good game and he's irreplaceable.

If CJ turns out to be as good as he looked in the preseason, Hillman might not be on the roster too much longer after this season. It really doesn't seem like he has improved at all.

Why do you have something personal about this? He bone your girl?

Montee seems mature. Hope he contributes.
