Having logged 18 tackles in the first two games of the season, safety Duke Ihenacho has been one of the pleasant surprises on the Broncos' defense. Undrafted coming out of San Jose State, Ihenacho has been playing football only since high school. When he was a kid, his mother discouraged him from playing football because she worried about injuries, and Ihenacho was so wrapped up in basketball that he didn't care. He respected his mother's suggestions to avoid football until he reached high school, the age when the pull of football was too strong.

"When I got to high school, that's when it became a really big interest," Ihenacho said. "By that time in high school, you're with your friends, not coming home right away, so you can do what you want to."

Football is Ihenacho's life now, and he makes a conscious effort not to watch "SportsCenter" or other football-related television when he gets home. He's not much of an outdoorsman, either, so a lot of his free time is spent watching movies and television — anything but ESPN, most of the time. He sees so many movies, he sometimes has trouble remembering the titles or even plot lines.
