ENGLEWOOD, Colo -- Cornerback Champ Bailey will miss his second consecutive game Sunday when the Denver Broncos face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

Bailey, who has not practiced since injuring his left foot in an Aug. 17 preseason loss in Seattle, was formally ruled out on Friday.

"No setback,'' Broncos coach John Fox said after Friday's practice. "He's on schedule, he's making great progress and he's being watched over by our medical staff and he's getting closer.''

Interesting how he goes from just barely not being ready the day before the Ravens game to definitely not ready 10 days later. More to this injury than we're being told?

Rodgers-Cromartie must go 1 on 1 with Cruz!

Yeah, that is odd. I was hopeful he'd be back for the Giants game. I think Eli's going to throw a lot on Sunday. Maybe the coaches were pleasantly surprised with the secondary play against Baltimore and are being overly cautious with Champ.

I'd put DRC on Nicks and Harris/Carter on Cruz with Safety help over the top. DRC is a big physical CB and would match up well on Nicks. Cruz is a smaller speedster so the size and physicality of the CB isn't as important.

Randle is okay, but is definitely a 3rd option. The Giants really don't have a TE that can challenge Woodyard and Trevathan. Yep. I give Nicks to DRC and double Cruz.

Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey and tight end Joel Dreessen were practicing in pads Thursday for the first time since suffering injuries in the preseason, and both might be available Monday night when the Broncos host the Oakland Raiders.

Bailey is recovering from a foot injury. Dreessen injured his knee.

Also, new tackle Winston Justice is practicing after being signed Wednesday when all-pro tackle Ryan Clady was put on injured reserve.

Broncos coach John Fox and quarterback Peyton Manning will address the media after practice.

I didn't notice the date at first so I thought Champ was definitely for a third straight game. Now that he's back to practicing hopefully he and Dreessen will be able to play Monday.

Having Champ for the Raiders will be awesome. How about Wes Welker replacing Clady as a Captain? I can't think of another guy on offense who should've gotten it.

I think Clady remains a captain even though he's injured.

The biggest add IMO is Dreessen. With Clady gone, Clark is going to need help.

I've heard speculation that Denver might start using more two tight ends sets.
