The Denver Broncos have gotten some bad news on starting tight end Joel Dreessen.

The team's starting tight end will be sidelined for the rest of training camp after suffering a setback with his surgically repaired left knee, The Denver Post reported Saturday.

Dreessen originally underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in late May. He will now undergo a second arthroscopic procedure to clean up the knee, a person with knowledge of the procedure told USA Today on Sunday.

Sounds like some scar tissue got loose. Shouldn't be too bad. Means more playing time and reps for the backups. That might be a good thing later in the season.

agreed. joel is going nowhere. Now maybe Green can work himself back into some pt. With Tamme out as well, this is a reall opportunity for the young guys to step up. Really frustrated that Reed got himself banged up early. i liked his potential. Especially when you factor in that he was used mostly as a blocker his senior year and played well in that role but really was brought in on his potential as a pass catcher.

As long as he's back for the regular season, this isn't a setback at all. The one thing that it might affect is Manning's playing time in the preseason. Between Dreesen and Clady on the bench with injuries, and the bad play at center the Broncos might not put Peyton out there a whole lot in games that mean nothing.

Hopefully Dressen gets well soon because he is the best all round tight end we have on the roster. As others have pointed out it's not all that bad news. It allows J. Thomas and Green to get more reps and for Dressen it's kind of blessing too because he can avoid the wear and tear of camp and so he should be well rested for the start of the season.

I would bet Fox follows the same format he did last year. The first couple of games the starters won't play that much and third game will be the "dress rehearsal" where the starters will play into the third quarter. The fourth game most of starters won't even be on the field.

Edit: You're knowable so maybe you were being just a bit facetious?
